Whatever you are, it’s because of your family.

They make you laugh.
They wish for your success.
They dream for a prosperous future for you.
They aspire to become like you.

Make time for them.
Always.

Your company will find your replacement.
But your family will never be able to.

Our clients loved their bungalow in Surrey. But after years of small additions, the home felt disconnected.

A conservatory from the 1990s.
A rear extension from 2001.
Multiple rooflines.
A layout that no longer suited modern living.

Instead of adding another extension, we took a different approach.

We reimagined the entire property.

✔ Removed the outdated conservatory
✔ Extended the existing rear addition
✔ Created one spacious open-plan living, dining and entertaining area
✔ Redesigned the master suite, dressing room and bathroom
✔ Introduced a new roof that unifies the original bungalow and extension into one seamless design

Every decision was carefully balanced against Green Belt planning policy, ensuring the proposal respects restrictions while delivering the home our clients envisioned.

The application has now been submitted, and we’re awaiting planning approval.

Great architecture isn’t about pushing planning limits. It’s about designing within them to create something exceptional.

Thinking about extending your home in the Green Belt? Let’s explore what’s possible together.

This homeowner had a three-bedroom property but wanted more than just extra space.

They wanted a true master suite.
A bright, open-plan kitchen.
A home that worked beautifully for modern family life.

Our solution?

✔ A 6-metre rear extension
✔ A loft conversion with a stunning master suite
✔ A Juliet balcony bringing in light and views
✔ Four-metre bi-fold doors opening onto the garden
✔ A bespoke kitchen with a striking white worktop, anthracite cabinetry, and a thoughtfully designed island

Every detail was carefully considered, even designing around rooflights to maximise both storage and natural light.

At Greenway Associates, we don’t just add square metres.

We design spaces that improve the way you live every single day.

This wasn’t just a house renovation.

It was a chance to completely rethink how a home should perform for the next generation.

The homeowners made a bold decision.

Strip the house back to brick.
Start again.
They had plenty of ideas.

But they wanted confidence that every decision would stand the test of planning, design, and time.

That’s where Greenway Associates came in.

Before a single application was submitted, we worked through what was possible, what wasn’t, and why.

Sometimes that meant standing in the garden with a compass to understand the sun’s path.

Sometimes it meant connecting them with trusted builders and specialist trades.

And throughout the project, we became one point of contact to keep everything moving.

Together, we created more than a beautiful home.
We created a sustainable one.

✔ 21 solar panels
✔ Battery storage
✔ Underfloor heating
✔ Full insulation upgrades
✔ A gas-free future

The result is a home that’s ready for decades to come.

Thinking about transforming your home?
Let’s build something your family will be proud of.

What started as a cramped layout became a home built around modern family living.

The entrance felt crowded.
The downstairs toilet sat by the front door.
And the rear of the property wasn't making the most of its potential.

My clients knew something needed to change.
They just weren't sure how.

So we started by rethinking the flow of the house.

We relocated the toilet beneath the stairs, creating a more welcoming entrance with space for coats, bags, and everyday life.

Then we turned our attention to the rear.

A 3-metre extension transformed the space into an open-plan family hub with three distinct zones:

✔ Kitchen
✔ Dining
✔ Living

Columns subtly define each area, while continuous flooring ties everything together beautifully.

Velux windows flood the space with natural light.

Bi-fold doors open onto the garden.

And what was once a series of disconnected rooms is now a home that flows effortlessly from one space to the next.

And my client is absolutely over the moon with the result.

What looked like a simple garage extension became a fascinating design challenge.

The property already had an oak-framed car port and a secure garage.

The brief?
Create one seamless space for three classic cars, with flexibility for future expansion.

Sounds simple.
But it wasn’t.

The challenge was connecting the existing structure to the new extension without compromising aesthetics, functionality, or vehicle access.

So we got to work.

We designed a distinctive “cheese roof” to link the two pitched roofs together.

We concealed a steel frame beneath elegant oak cladding.

And we created wide, uninterrupted spans without intrusive columns.

The result?
- Two separate structures transformed into one cohesive automotive space.
- Traditional craftsmanship on the outside.
- Modern engineering behind the scenes.

Projects like this remind me that great architecture isn’t just about creating more space.

It’s about solving problems beautifully.

How to improve your chances of getting Planning Permission.

STEP 01
Understand Local Planning Policies

☑ Before designing anything, check what your local council is likely to support.

Every council has different priorities regarding:
* Extensions
* Loft conversions
* Conservation areas
* Green Belt restrictions

Tip: Design with policy in mind, not against it.

STEP 02
Talk to an Expert Early

☑ Many planning applications fail before they’re even submitted.

An experienced architectural designer can:
* Spot potential issues early
* Recommend workable solutions
* Save months of delays

Tip: A small investment in advice can prevent costly redesigns.

STEP 03
☑ Design for the Street, Not Just Yourself

Councils don’t just assess your needs.

They also consider:
* Impact on neighbours
* Privacy
* Overshadowing
* Street appearance

Tip: The best designs balance your goals with the surrounding area.

STEP 04
☑ Research Similar Approved Projects

One of the smartest things you can do:
Look at nearby properties that have already received planning permission.

This helps establish:
* What is likely to be approved
* What size extension is acceptable
* Which designs work locally

Tip: Previous approvals can provide valuable planning evidence.

STEP 05
☑ Submit a Complete, High-Quality Application

Even a great design can face delays if information is missing.
Include:
* Accurate drawings
* Site plans
* Supporting documents
* Design statements (when required)

Tip: Clear applications often receive smoother decisions.

Planning permission isn’t luck. It’s Preparation.
The right research, design, and strategy can dramatically improve your chances of approval.
