Hi Everyone!
It's that time of year again; the salt spreaders are doing their thing and the cars are frosting over, so I'm bringing back this nugget of information from last year to help you all out!
If your boiler has decided to stop working and you're getting error codes, It could very well be your condensate pipe!
It all begins if your boiler is making a gurgling noise...
I've attached a quick cheesy video I've found online that should help you along.
In essence, grab the kettle and start pouring Hot water (not boiling) over the 'usually white' pipe outside. If you follow the pipe to a drain, you may even see a large plug of ice hanging off it.
Remember that the boiler may need resetting after the condense has been released.
This should clear any error codes.
Some resets are a button that needs to be held for few seconds, a dial that rotates to a 'reset position' for few seconds or a button with crossed out flame picture.
Good luck!

It's also worth a mention to make sure your outside taps are turned off/isolated from indoors as well! If you can't isolate the tap, do your best to cover any copper pipe you see with insulation.

It's also worth a mention to make sure your outside taps are turned off/isolated from indoors as well! I've had one job this morning of a burst, exposed garden tap. If you can't isolate the tap, do your best to cover any copper pipe you see with insulation.

I've had around 7 calls today, all of which are the result of a frozen condensate pipe.
