A late afternoon swarm gathering just here in Redruth.. with the queen secured in the nuc we will head back over this evening and collect to make sure that none are left behind.

Today was a great afternoon to do a hive check and make sure all is going well. It’s good to report that our first swarm are doing really well and are making comb, brood and honey.

Take a look at one of our over wintered hives with us. Can you spot the Queen?

Another day, another swarm.

All safely placed in a nuc and ready for collection this evening once the temperature has dropped and everyone is in. Then they will be rehomed in one of our hives in our apiary on the farm

Here’s a little clip of our swarm that was collected from St Day when we returned to our farm apiary. You can see them creating a chain to link the two frames using their bodies.

Swarm season is here, here is one we collected in St Day this week.

🐝 Ethical Live Bee Removal – Protecting Bees & Your Property 🐝

From March onwards, bee activity begins to increase as the weather warms and colonies prepare to grow and swarm. This is a natural and important time in the bee lifecycle, but sometimes bees may settle in chimneys, wall cavities, roofs, or other areas of your property.

At MSB Pest Control, we specialise in ethical live bee removal, ensuring the safety of both our customers and these vital pollinators. Bees play a crucial role in our ecosystem, and wherever possible, we carefully remove and relocate colonies without harm.

What happens from March:

• Increased bee movement as colonies expand

• Swarms may temporarily settle while searching for a new home

• Higher chance of bees entering structures and sheltered spaces

• Greater need for professional, humane relocation

Our approach:

Safe, humane live removal

Careful relocation to suitable environments

Protection of your property

Supporting pollinator conservation

If you notice increased bee activity or a swarm on your property, avoid disturbing them and contact a professional. Swarms are usually calm but should be handled by trained experts.

Call us for ethical, responsible bee removal and advice.
