A great day of training with Aico for M&K Electrical.

Yesterday, members of our team completed Aico’s Expert Installer training, further developing our knowledge of domestic fire and carbon monoxide alarm systems, current regulations and best practice installation procedures.

Continued training and development is important to us at M&K Electrical Contractors Ltd. It ensures our electricians continue to build their knowledge and competence, particularly across the domestic and social housing sectors where fire and carbon monoxide safety is so important.

Our next step will be progressing onto Aico’s City & Guilds Assured Domestic Fire & CO Alarm Systems training.

The full day course takes the training further, covering areas including system design, standards and regulations, fire risk assessment, alarm siting, installation, testing, maintenance and interconnection.

Completing this next stage will also take us another step towards achieving Aico Gold Standard Installer recognition.

A big thank you to Stuart Hope and the team at Aico for delivering today’s training and for having the M&K team along.

Keeping commercial premises safe, compliant and operational.

As part of our new commercial maintenance and testing contract with New Pig Ltd, M&K Electrical recently carried out emergency lighting inspection and testing throughout their offices & warehouse facility.

During the inspection, M&K Electrical identified a number of faults across the emergency lighting system, with several fittings no longer operating correctly or providing the required emergency illumination. These defective units were replaced with new LED emergency twin spot fittings, restoring the system to ensure safe operation in the event of a mains power failure.

Due to the height of the warehouse, some of this work was completed using high access equipment. M&K Electrical holds IPAF licences across all categories, allowing us to safely carry out high level electrical works in commercial and industrial environments.

As an NICEIC Approved Contractor, M&K Electrical is committed to delivering work to the highest standard.

We are also accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and hold CHAS Elite and SMAS Worksafe Plus accreditation, giving our clients confidence that every project is completed safely, professionally and in line with current industry standards.

Another project well underway as this home undergoes a complete transformation with a new extension, creating a larger luxury kitchen and dining area along with a fully revamped utility room.

Our first fix works included new wiring for the kitchen and lounge, wiring for spotlights throughout the extension, new soffit lighting, and the installation of new interlinked smoke detectors throughout the property to replace the outdated system and bring it in line with current regulations along with a few other improvements.

We will be returning for the second fix to complete the installation and bring the project to its finished standard. We look forward to sharing the finished result.

Another project that came together nicely.

The finishing touches are making a real difference, with modern spotlights throughout, a new bathroom featuring underfloor heating, illuminated mirror cabinets with integrated shaver sockets, USB sockets, and brushed chrome accessories creating a clean, contemporary finish.

It has been great to be involved in this transformation, and we are pleased with how the final result has come together.

We are looking for two experienced electricians to join our team on a self employed basis to support our current steady stream of work.

This role offers:

• £23.00 per hour
• Company van
• Fuel card
• Monthly pay
• Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00
• Friday: 08:00 – 13:30
• Overtime opportunities available

Applicants should hold a valid ECS Gold Card
18th Edition qualification
Hold a full UK driving licence
Have a minimum of three years post qualification experience Have experience within domestic and commercial installations
PAT Testing knowledge (Not Essential)
2391 Inspection and Testing qualification is desirable but not essential at the moment
