We’re looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead and manage groundworks, earthworks and infrastructure projects from site set-up through to completion.

Based at our current project at Orchard Grove, near Taunton in Somerset, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and successful infrastructure delivery team.

The successful candidate will take full operational responsibility for delivering projects safely, on programme, within budget and to specification — coordinating labour, plant, subcontractors and materials across complex civil engineering works.

Orchard Grove Park & Bus 🚌

We're delighted to share that the new park and bus service at Orchard Grove, Comeytrowe was recently opened by Vistry and Somerset Council. The first of its kind in Somerset, this new facility provides a free 200-space car park with state-of-the-art electric buses operating via Orchard Grove into the heart of Taunton town centre.

This new facility forms a key part of the development's commitment to sustainable travel options for residents, and we're very proud to have delivered this key piece of infrastructure for the project.

Our team has been busy delivering the latest Foul Pumping Station Attenuation Tank on phase 3AB at Sherford. This marks the third structure of its kind installed on this project by the Groundfix team to date.

This particular attenuation tank measures an impressive 28m long, 8m wide and 2.2m high, providing an estimated storage capacity of approximately 240m³.

The scale of the structure is significant:

➡️ Precast concrete external walls weigh just over 60 tonnes
➡️ Precast internal walls and flow channels add almost 18 tonnes
➡️ Roof slabs contribute a further 52 tonnes

That’s close to 130 tonnes of precast concrete forming this structure alone 😮

We’re delighted to share that the new Civic Square community space at Orchard Grove officially opened to the public in December 2025, just ahead of the Christmas break.

Since then, we’ve been proud to assist with the installation of two unique carved-wood artworks by local, award-winning sculptor Matthew Crabb — recognised for his extraordinary talent in creating awe-inspiring large-scale sculptures.

Now in situ at Civic Square, the two bespoke pieces include:

🌿 A striking ‘Green Man’ wood carving
🦋 A beautifully carved seating bench featuring butterflies, bees and flowers

These handcrafted pieces bring character, craftsmanship and a strong connection to nature into the heart of the community space. We can’t wait to see them surrounded by greenery when the square is in full bloom and thriving this summer.

It’s been fantastic to contribute to such a meaningful public space within this growing development — a project that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come.

Last week, to mark the start of the festive season, and what is typically an extremely busy time of year for our projects - many of the Groundfix team downed tools for an evening of darts, drinks and food to help them get into the festive spirit.

Comeytrowe: Employment Land Earthworks 👷

We're pleased to share that our team have now completed the cut & fill of the new Employment Land area at Orchard Grove. Check out our team hard at work on this area, in this recent video, captured when the main road into this new commercial space was being prepared for tarmac - another key milestone achieved for our work on this phase of the site in recent weeks.

Comeytrowe Civic Square works 👷

Our team have been busy working on the Orchard Grove Civic Square and have almost completed their work, including:

➡️ Installation of services (including power, fibre & water, which will also feed services into the nearby employment land),
➡️ Footpaths (currently installed to binder course)
➡️ Landscaping
➡️ Relocation of a bus stop
➡️ We've also undertaken some work to adjust the existing kerbs on the main road in order to install a new pedestrian crossing near the Civic Square, as well as to widen an existing crossing

There are finishing works happening in the coming weeks, but we're extremely excited to see this brand-new community space spring to life for the people of Orchard Grove.
