Decking can transform how a garden is used, turning an awkward level or unused corner into a proper place to sit and relax.

The key to decking that lasts is almost always in the frame beneath it. Proper support, ventilation and the right materials keep it solid and safe underfoot for years, whether you choose natural timber or low-maintenance composite.

It's the part no one sees once the boards go down, and the part that matters most.

Get in contact to talk through decking that's built to hold up.

Not every garden needs starting from scratch. Sometimes a tired, uneven or stained patio is holding back an otherwise lovely space.

The right approach depends on what's underneath. Where the base is sound, a patio can often be lifted, relaid and refinished. Where movement or pooling has crept in, it's usually a sign the groundwork beneath needs putting right first.

Either way, the fix starts with understanding the cause, not just covering the symptom.

A patio worth keeping is worth putting right properly.

Late summer is when a productive garden really shows its worth, and it's also a good time to plan one for the seasons ahead.

Raised beds bring structure and order to growing your own. They improve drainage, make the most of good soil, and keep a kitchen garden tidy and easy to manage without constant bending and digging.

Built well, with the right materials and a base that drains properly, they last for years and quietly become one of the most-used parts of a garden.

We think a productive garden is one of the most rewarding things to build well.

Cooking outdoors has moved well beyond a portable barbecue wheeled out on sunny days.

A built-in outdoor kitchen turns the garden into a proper place to cook and gather, but it asks a lot of the space it sits on. Solid foundations, weatherproof materials and services routed correctly are what keep it usable season after season rather than for one summer only.

Done properly, it's an investment in how you use the garden for years, not just the warm months.

There's something about the sound of moving water that changes how a garden feels, especially on a warm summer's day.

Beyond the look of it, a well-placed water feature adds a sense of calm, softens noise from beyond the garden, and gives the space a natural focal point to sit around.

The parts that make it work reliably, the levels, the pump housing and the drainage, all sit out of sight and need planning from the start.

The best features look effortless precisely because of the work you never see.

After a long, dry summer, the appeal of a lawn that stays green with almost no effort is easy to understand.

Modern artificial grass has come a long way, and for the right garden it solves real problems. Shaded spots where grass won't grow, high-traffic areas that wear thin, and busy households with little time for upkeep are all cases where it genuinely earns its place.

As with anything, the finish depends on the groundwork. A proper base, correct drainage and clean edging are what separate a natural-looking result from an obvious one.
Get in contact to talk through whether artificial grass is the right fit for you and your garden.

Getting into summer, even a healthy lawn can start to struggle. Weeks of dry, warm weather leave the grass tired, patchy and slow to recover.

How a lawn copes with this comes down to more than watering. Good preparation beneath the surface, the right soil structure, and proper drainage all decide whether grass bounces back or gives up when conditions get tough.

A lawn laid well from the start is far more forgiving when the weather isn't.

The greenest lawns in August were built long before the heat arrived.

Beginning of the summer holidays is often the moment a garden is put to work hardest.

It's the time of year when the small things get noticed. A patio that's comfortable underfoot, seating that sits level, and a space that flows easily from kitchen to garden all make hosting feel effortless rather than something you have to work around.

The gardens that handle a busy weekend best are usually the ones built with everyday use in mind long before the guests arrive.

A garden made for entertaining should make it look easy.

It might be the height of summer, but it’s also the ideal time to plan the projects you’ll want finished before the weather turns.

Larger groundwork, drainage improvements, and structural landscaping are far easier to carry out in dry, settled conditions than in the wet months that follow. Booking ahead now means your space is ready to enjoy well into the new season, rather than waiting through autumn for work to begin.

The best results rarely happen in a rush. They happen with a bit of planning.

Driveways are easy to overlook until they start letting you down, and the dry, settled weather of summer is the ideal time to put one right.

Whether it's block paving, resin or a solid new surface, the quality of a driveway comes down to what sits beneath it. Proper excavation, a compacted sub-base and correct drainage are what keep it level, stable and free of pooling for years to come.

Dry conditions make this groundwork faster and cleaner to carry out, which means less disruption and a better finish.

A driveway is one of the first things people see, and one of the last places to cut corners.
