We're proud to have played a small part in supporting our Armed Forces by supplying concrete for Combat Engineer training exercises.

As the team kindly shared:

"Thankyou for your company's support with supplying concrete to us at no cost in order to enable our Combat Engineers conduct explosive entry and anti vehicle obstacle destruction on live demolition ranges I have also included some pics from what these type of concrete items are used for in last weeks training in order to practice explosive clearance through enemy obstacles."

Material Spotlight: FoamCreteX

Have you ever wondered what that light grey material is that gets poured around underground services and pipework?

It's called FoamCreteX and it's becoming a popular solution on utility and infrastructure projects. It is typically made from a mix of sand, cement, water, and a specialist foaming additive, which creates millions of tiny air bubbles throughout the mix. This gives the material its lightweight and low-strength properties.

🔹 What is it used for? FoamCreteX is commonly placed above underground pipes, ducts, cables, and other services as a protective layer. Because it flows easily, it fully surrounds utilities without the need for mechanical compaction, helping to prevent damage while providing a stable backfill. It's also widely used for trench reinstatements, void filling, and utility installations.

🔹 Why do we use it?
✅ Easy to place and self-levelling
✅ No compaction required, saving time and labour
✅ Fully protects pipework and services
✅ Lightweight and stable with minimal settlement
✅ Provides a clear visual indication when excavating, helping operatives identify that they are approaching buried services or cables
✅ Can be excavated and replaced more easily than traditional concrete when future maintenance is required.

🔹 Strength where it's needed. Although FoamCreteX is solid once cured, it is intentionally produced with a lower strength than conventional concrete. This makes it durable enough to protect buried infrastructure while remaining easier to remove during future repairs or upgrades.

A simple product with a big impact, helping to protect vital services today while making future access easier and safer.

A recent project in Northallerton saw us supply and pour C30 concrete directly into the centre of brick gate posts, ensuring each pillar was filled accurately and efficiently.

Versatility in Action at HACS, Harrogate.

One delivery, multiple applications.

Using our versatile volumetric concrete truck, we supplied:

✅ C35 concrete with a 120mm slump directly into the dumper
✅ A dry concrete mix placed on the floor
✅ All from the same load and the same delivery
