Been super slack lately on my posts, I’m working on that!

But this project in Ramsgate, is nearing completion, they never do end sometimes 😅
Bullnose step is now in. buffed up the York, getting rid of any last remnant of paint residue and staining, and some minor repairs to the column bases, but keeping its worn charm

Now plans booked in on the floor, turning it into a low maintenance, permeable with a modern twist(I’m always a fan of) gravel and tiled finish

Honourable, sustainable, conservation repair!

In a world of waste, this feels very great to do. Saving this original 19th century geometric tiled landing. Overall it was in great condition, but it had suffered some movement over the years, due to water ingress from a neighbouring down-pipe.

Instead of the very common and wasteful thought of just smashing it to bits and replacing with new. Both me, and the client was keen to save this piece of near on perfect craft and reset it to live on many more years.

There wasn’t much wrong with it apart from some minor loose tiles needing resetting.

All set back in as close matched screed to the original. Giving it all the breathable and strength it had before.

Final photos, once the gods chill out with all this rain. And I get a few dry days to patch the tiles. 🙏
