🚧 Another booster upgrade by the Pumps UK team 🚧

Site: Block of flats in East London

The existing booster set had suffered control failures, leaving residents at risk of losing water pressure. Our team attended site and carried out a temporary fix to keep one pump operational while the replacement solution was arranged.

We then replaced the existing set with a new PUK VARI COM 3 SM 40 booster set, restoring reliable boosted water supply to the building.

By keeping downtime to a minimum and planning the changeover carefully, we helped ensure disruption for residents was kept as low as possible.

💙⚽ On Sunday, members of the Pumps UK team attended a fantastic charity walking football event organised by our colleague Darren and Maidstone Walking Football Club to help raise money for prostate cancer awareness and support.

It was a brilliant day with plenty of football, laughs and fundraising, all for a great cause. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, took part and came along to support the event.

Our team are all feeling the aches today, but thankfully no injuries, so everyone still managed to make it into work this morning 😄

Between the JustGiving page and donations raised in person, Darren has raised nearly £2,000 for prostate cancer charities and awareness efforts, which is an incredible achievement 👏

Another PUK booster set delivered and ready for installation. 💧🔧

This project started with a consultant specifying a PUK booster solution, with our team supplying, building and delivering a twin pump, 1000 litre PUK VARI TANK system.

Due to site access restrictions, this unit was supplied with a split tank design, allowing easier access into the plant room and on-site assembly. The booster set will now be installed by the M&E contractor, with our team returning soon for commissioning.

Another PUK booster pump conversion completed by the Pumps UK team. 💧🔧

This time for a property management company at a site in Woolwich, where the existing booster set had reached the end of its service life. The set was running on just one pump, with all of the inverters having failed.

Rather than replacing the full system, our team rebuilt the booster set with:

• New DP pumps
• New Nastec inverters
• A PUK control panel with Safety Fill enabled
• New local isolation valves
• A new Zilio Imera larger drawdown vessel

The result is a reliable, serviceable booster system that will help maintain water supply for years to come.

With careful planning, the full conversion was completed in a single day, keeping water supply downtime to a minimum for the building.

A great example of how a well-planned PUK conversion can extend the life of an existing booster installation while improving reliability, control and future serviceability.

Two student accommodation booster pump jobs completed over two days, both delivered within planned shutdown windows. 💧

📍 Southampton
Our team supplied and installed a PUK Vari Com 3 LG 50 booster set, replacing an existing three-pump booster set that had been deemed unrepairable after all three motors suffered worn non-drive end motor covers.

📍 Bournemouth
We also completed a PUK conversion at another student accommodation site, replacing three mechanically failed pumps that had been suffering from pressure surging due to the existing controls not communicating correctly. A new PUK Safety Fill control panel and PUK vessel were also fitted as part of the works.

Both jobs were carefully planned around site shutdowns, with both systems back up and running within the agreed timescales. Reliable water pressure, minimal disruption and practical solutions for busy buildings.

Here we have a 1500 litre PUK Vari Tank ready for delivery. The flatbed is fitted with its own crane, allowing for fast loading and unloading on site and at our workshop.

We always prefer to deliver larger booster systems ourselves wherever possible, helping to ensure the equipment arrives safely and is handled correctly from our workshop right through to site delivery.

Another upgrade completed by the team at Pumps UK 💧🔧

We recently replaced a faulty booster set with a PUK VARI COM 3 MD 50 at a large property in the centre of Regent’s Park.

This one wasn’t just a straight swap. There were a couple of key issues on the original installation that needed putting right:

• The existing booster set had been installed down the side of the break tank, making access for servicing extremely difficult. We repositioned the new set in front of the tank, creating proper access for maintenance and future works.

• The pipework from the break tank had been installed incorrectly, meaning the tank could not draw down evenly. This can lead to stagnant water and associated risks. We modified the pipework to ensure balanced draw down across the tank.

A good example of how the right installation is just as important as the equipment itself.

Peter and Ellis were at the Specifi London yesterday, representing Pumps UK Ltd and meeting with mechanical services customers and consultants.

It was a great opportunity to talk through our PUK Booster Systems, Kolmeks Oy pumps, Nastec srl Inverters and many other supporting solutions, explaining how we help deliver reliable and efficient water systems across a wide range of projects.
