We’re delighted to welcome Jack Macnaghten to AWA as a Principal Engineer, joining our team in the Bath office.

On Sunday, our team and their families came together for an afternoon of sunshine, great food, fun and laughter for the annual AWA Summer BBQ.

From the BBQ and the much-loved ice cream van to football and plenty of outdoor games, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Last year, the rain left us all soaked - this year, the only wetness came courtesy of a few very enthusiastic water pistol battles! πŸ’¦πŸ”«πŸ¦

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a brilliant day. It's always a pleasure to catch up outside the office and spend time with colleagues and their families.

Roll on next year's BBQ! β˜€οΈ

Congratulations to Patrick on successfully completing the LP24 Challenge in support of PLANETS Charity! πŸš΄πŸ’™

Taking on a 24-hour cycling challenge is an incredible achievement, and we're immensely proud of what he's accomplished in support of such a worthwhile cause.

To show our support, colleagues also took part in a virtual cycling challenge, aiming to collectively ride 200 miles. Thanks to everyone's fantastic efforts, we not only reached our target but exceeded it, cycling a combined 214 miles!

A huge thank you to the AWA Team who got involved by cycling miles, cheering Patrick on, baking flapjacks to fuel the riders, or donating along the way. It was wonderful to see so many of us come together behind this fantastic cause.

If you'd like to support Patrick's fundraising, there's still time to donate via his JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/patrick-fisher-1

Well done, Patrick - a truly inspiring achievement! πŸ‘

Today, some of the Romsey office team swapped their desks for the kitchen to bake homemade flapjacks in support of Patrick's LP24 charity ride for PLANETS Charity! πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸ’™

The flapjacks will be handed over to the team at PLANETS and enjoyed by cyclists at the pit stops throughout the 24-hour challenge, helping to keep them fuelled as they take on this incredible ride from London to Paris.

A huge thank you to everyone who baked or donated. Wishing Patrick and everyone taking part the very best of luck this weekend!

🚴 Pedalling for a great cause! 🚴

This week, we're supporting Patrick as he takes on his London to Paris cycle ride in aid of PLANETS Charity, raising money to support people affected by cancer and fund vital care, research and treatment.

To show our support, the AWA team is taking on a Virtual Cycle Challenge, aiming to collectively cycle the same 200-mile distance. Whether it's cycling to work, heading out for an evening ride or hopping on the stationary bikes in the office, every mile helps us get closer to our goal.

It's been brilliant to see so many colleagues getting involved and cheering each other on.

If you'd like to support Patrick's challenge, you can donate via his JustGiving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/patrick-fisher-1

Good luck this weekend, Patrick - we're with you every mile! πŸ’™πŸš΄

πŸ—οΈ A major milestone has been reached at All Saints Church, Mudeford, with the new roof structure now arriving on site and being carefully lifted into position.

Following the devastating fire in 2022, it's fantastic to see the rebuilding project continuing to take shape. As Structural Engineers on the scheme, we've been proud to work alongside the church team, architects, contractors and fellow consultants to help bring this important listed building back to life.

Seeing the primary structural frame being installed is a rewarding moment for everyone involved and another step closer to welcoming the community back. β›ͺ

πŸ‘ Great work by all involved and amazing drone photos by Paul from the church team.

It’s a good day at AWA if your name starts with J! πŸ˜„

We’re delighted to celebrate three fantastic achievements across the team:

πŸ‘ Jacqui Williams – Following her promotion to Accounts Manager, Jacqui has continued to build on her development by studying and successfully completing her exams to become an AAT Qualified Bookkeeper.

πŸ‘ Jessie Au – The submission of her dissertation marked the successful conclusion of her MSc masters degree in Advanced Geotechnical Engineering.

πŸ‘ Joshua Powell – Since joining us as a Graduate, Josh has shown real dedication and enthusiasm, and we’re proud to see his journey continue with a well-earned promotion to Senior Structural Engineer.

Congratulations to you all! πŸŽ‰

πŸ”¨ Timber Repair Insight at St James the Less Church

There are lots of timber joints to choose from, and getting the right one in a historic structure is key.

At St James the Less Church, we used a scissors joint to repair the decayed king post πŸͺ΅. This helped preserve as much of the original historic fabric as possible as well as creating a strong, reliable interface between old and new timber.

Not the easiest detail to form in-situ, but a great piece of workmanship from JPConservation, working alongside Clews Architects Ltd. πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€

A nice example of careful, collaborative conservation in action.
