The scaffolding is down and the cedar cladding is being finished.

Charlestown Limekilns, Fife, Scotland. Built in the 18th century and among some of the largest limekilns in Britain. Producing the lime that helped build and repair many of Britain’s historic buildings. Production ceased in the 1950s.

Had a great few days at the Scottish Lime Centre Trust attending my C2 Traditional Masonry Repair course.

Covered brick, ashlar and rubble walling, harling render, hot and cold lime cavity grout, lime wash and stone repair.

Big thanks to the team at Scottish Lime Centre Trust for putting it together. Always useful to build on existing knowledge, pick up different approaches and keep developing traditional building skills.
