The Whittard of Chelsea Garden by Ollie Pike Design Studios

We are excited to reveal with sponsors Whittard of Chelsea our garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show - celebrating their 140th birthday with a garden inspired by their brand and heritage. This garden will feature in the Container and Balcony Garden category.

Celebrating 140 years of the simple, peaceful pleasure of enjoying a Whittard of Chelsea cup of tea, this garden transforms a small Chelsea courtyard into a calm retreat. Here, nature, tea and wonder come together to create the perfect sanctuary - a place to pause, reflect and savour the moment.

The act of pouring tea holds deep significance - in many cultures, it is even considered an art form. The beauty and sound of the pour serve as key inspiration for the garden’s design. A network of copper pipes winds through the space, mimicking this ritual by creating graceful streams of water, adding to the garden’s serene and calming atmosphere.

Imagine a small London courtyard, owned by an eccentric, maverick, tea enthusiast. An eclectic mix of containers, each with a colourful patina, has been reclaimed and repurposed into beautiful planters. Together, they create a cosy seating area, enclosed by nature.

Rich in fragrance and colour, the planting features many of the ingredients used in Whittard’s infusions. Almost every element in the garden is reclaimed or recycled. Just like Whittard of Chelsea, the garden celebrates the art of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Special mention to Brett Bramham of Yorkshire Water Features, capably assisted by Sam Lockhart who has worked tirelessly on this to deliver the accuracy, fine details and finish to the product required by Ollie and his team. An interesting project and something YWF are proud to be associated with.

Ollie and his team are well underway with the build of the wall which forms the backdrop and mounting point for all the water feature pipe runs so the whole garden will come together quickly this next week

Water Walls are something of a speciality of ours but this recent project for a private client in Corbridge has pushed the boundaries - coming in at 4400mm width and 3900mm height she was a brute to assemble and install on site, all gone well and just leaves all the pipeworks and electrics to complete the job.

It was great to have the big lad, Sam Lockhart (CMLA) back with us for a week in advance of him beginning the next step in his Landscape Architecture career joining up with Alastair Baldwin Associate's alistairwbaldwin.co.uk
