Proud to share the completion of our restoration project at Knaptoft Hall, Leicestershire — a Grade II listed property brought back to life with care and precision.
Working closely with Historic England and the local authority, we delivered the project in full, meeting all conservation standards and approvals. All works were completed by our in-house team, highlighting our heritage expertise.

The restoration programme included cleaning the brick façades, extensive masonry repairs, renewal of internal and external fabric, full replacement of the roof, windows, and cast iron guttering, traditional lath and lime plastering, an insulated lime screed floor base, and restoration of the original well.

A project that reflects our commitment to preserving historic building for the future.

The West Front steps of were in desperate need of restoration.
Many of the steps had weathered over time and had become a hazard.

We templated and worked the new treads using Stoke Ground Bath stone (base bed).

The stones were carefully fixed and bedded using the traditional methods and mortars.

We are very lucky to have such a diverse team of craftsman with skills that are so important when restoring and working on properties such as these.

Earlier this year we completed the installation of the Foxes Pond feature at training ground.
The feature was certainly a labour of love, each rockery stone weighed an average of 1.2 tonne and had to be “faced/tooled” by hand.
We sourced the granite blocks from Scotland and pitched each side of the stone to resemble the designers impression exactly.
The stones were cut and fixed with precision to ensure the Foxes’ eyes and gaze were just as the artists had designed. The cast bronze Foxes were individually pinned into the stone and pond base, we complemented the stunning sculptures by installing lights into various rockery stones - take a look at the last slide!

As always, we are very proud to deliver projects like these for our clients.

Our biggest fire surround to date! 🔥

Working alongside our friends we installed this hand carved Italian Marble fire surround.
The stone was delivered to us in crates but required drilling and pinning by our masons. There were also some small areas for repair once we had unboxed the stone.

This bespoke 1of1 Roman/Greek style surround truly is a masterpiece and a work of art.

So far, the only surround that has required it’s own scaffold!

2 Tonnes!
That is what this massive piece of Bath Stone weighs 😮

Carving this has not been easy, but it’s what we are here to do! 🫡
For scale, we had one of our very talented masons sit on the stone to show its true size.

We can’t wait to share more of this project but NDA clauses restrict us at this stage.
For scale, 2 tonne is also the approximate weight of a Kia Sorento SUV😲

Happy Thursday Everyone!

A great example of our expertise in Monumental Masonry.

This memorial flag stone was built into the path- way outside the church and is frequently passed by members of the public. It’s condition meant it was a health and saftey hazard for pedestrians.

Our masons carefully removed the stonework for repair at our workshop.
The existing inscription was templated for accuracy and we began hand drawing the original inscription onto a new section of York stone.

After the hand cutting was complete the stone could be sent for installation by our fixing team.

A safe and sympathetic repair to a key feature of this church’s history.

We recently had the pleasure of restoring the Rushton War Memorial on behalf of Rushton PCC.
The monument is comprised from local Weldon Stone and is dedicated to the Men of Rushton, Pipewell and Glendon.
We used our DOFF cleaning system to remove the algae growth and lichen from the stone in order for the inscription to be legible again and for the parishioners of the village.
Additional repairs included re-jointing to the cross & die and stone replacements to the boundary wall near the WW1 memorial plaque.

Just a few miles outside Kettering is the picturesque village of Grafton Underwood, seen here in this atmospheric postcard early last century. It always reminds me of Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds! 😃
