Creating a woodland Garden, to help visualise what we are aspiring to achieve with our Woodland Garden we have created a series of mood boards, drawings and visualisations.

For this design we have leaned into the benefits of trees within the garden. Trees bring such tranquility. Being surrounded by them can make you feel safe, enclosed and secluded with the added delights of hearing the rustling leaves and experiencing a changing dappled light.

Creating a Seaside Garden - Master Plan

Once the concept plan has been completed and presented to you, a detailed master plan can be created. This is where the finer details, specifications and materials are finalised ready for planting and installation by hard landscapers.

This step is detail orientated and highly focused, bringing the final design together ready for application. I love this stage of pulling all the concepts into a final drawing.

Here is the master plan for the seaside garden design. A design that celebrates the beautiful materials of the coast; tough seaside plants, silvered wood, stone, water and a collection of gorgeous trees.

A few summers ago I read the book 'A Garden Against Time' by Olivia Laing. The book follows Laing as she moves into her new house in Suffolk formally the home to Garden designer, Mark Rumary. The design, planting and vision he had for the garden which was created in the 1960's had fallen into disrepair. On moving in, Laing sets to work restoring the garden, she uses the intended design as a framework and guide in the way she salvages it.

A Garden design can be continually referred back to. It becomes a legacy to a garden and place, as Laing’s story exemplifies.

Creating a Seaside Garden | Concept Drawing

We created a watercolour concept plan of a seaside garden design. Concept plans help to visualise and illuminate a design for our clients. This is an exciting stage, where the initial ideas and mood boards work together to help you to see the intention behind a design.

The concept plan reveals the proposed layout. You can see how the space is designed to work; how it will be moved through and enjoyed. Pathways, resting areas and planting schemes are plotted out at this exciting design stage.
