One of our engineers came across another example of air leakage this week, through the floor boards.

The last place you would expect to find air leakage, and yet still such an key area to cover first time. Use of tongue and groove joints will aid in preventing air leakage through the floors, and bettering your chance of a pass first time without the need of major remedial works.

Sealing is the most important preparation before an Air Pressure test, but sometimes key areas are forgotten.

Soil waste pipes are a common are which is often missed during the sealing process, which leads to air leakage through the wall cavity and therefore drastically effects the Air Pressure result.

Our engineers work with each client to make sure key areas like this an be sealed up to get the best test result to pass the SAP assessment.

UK Air Testing we are not just limited to new build dwellings!

We have worked with a number of Housing Associations to help identify areas of air leakage through partition walls, creating a routes for cooking smells and other odours to travel between dwellings.

Using a Smoke Testing method, our engineers pressurise the property, whilst a smoke machine is used to create a visual aid in identifying those areas of air leakage. The adjoining problematic property will be pressurised at the same time to force the visual aid through.

At UK Air Testing, we're not limited to new build residential projects. We also work with our clients whom are building in the commercial industry with their new build, extension and conversion projects too!

This project in Dagenham was a change of use project from a hospital to accommodation for the homeless. Our engineers worked with the client to carry out a before and after test, to ensure all structural changes didn't effect its air tightness as a result.
