Planning consent secured ✅

We're delighted to have received planning approval and listed building consent for this extension to a Georgian home.

The approved scheme is the result of a thorough design process, exploring a range of forms, roof profiles and material palettes to help our Client find the right solution while responding sensitively to the character of the existing property.

The following images showcase some of the material studies tested throughout the process before arriving at the final proposal, which secured approval with no comments from the local planning authority.

Pleased to share that planning consent has been granted for this new family home in the Warwickshire countryside.

The design takes cues from traditional farm buildings, using brick, timber and a series of gabled forms to make the house feel like a collection of barns and farmhouse additions that have grown over time. The mix of materials and layered rooflines helps the scheme feel rooted in its rural setting while creating a warm, contemporary home for modern family life.

We are looking forward to progressing the scheme across the stages to come.

Design is never a straight line

This rear extension went through many iterations before reaching the final scheme prior to being submitted to planning. Each iteration explored different ideas — from flat roofs to a part lean-to solution, alongside testing a range of materials to understand how massing, light and character could evolve.

It’s a reminder that good design is a process of testing, refining and learning. The final outcome is only possible through exploring ideas that came before it.

After many years in the pipeline we are proud to announce Maggie's North Wales in Glan Clywd. Maggie's are known as architectural sanctuaries for those looking to receive support alongside cancer treatment. With other sites across the UK designed by international architectural industry leaders including Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster and Frank Gehry. HB Architects have taken this prestigious task by the horns and we are looking forward to announcing its future opening date.
