2021 Daventry War Memorial renovation.
Over the years we have renovated several war memorials. This year it has been a privilege to clean and repair the Daventry War memorial. This included a gentle steam clean (Doff system) to the memorial and repointing of all open joints and cracks with a specialist lime pointing mix.
The lettering is a very specialised Ciment Fondue filler to hand cut lettering, and over time the inscriptions had become mostly illegible. I am so pleased with the outcome of the work we have carried out so far. All the names can be read at a distance.
If you are in Daventry the memorial is worth a visit.

When you are lucky enough to inherit your dads tools and then realise for security he has etched his postcode (and house number) on them all! They were very useful for holding my small slate panel in place. Thank you dad! https://www.moiramorrissmemorials.com

We have a delivery at the workshops today. Granite imports have been slower than usual due to delivery problems overseas, so it is always a relief when the pallet turns up and we can get to work on these memorials.

Moira Morriss Grief Recovery Specialist
After many years of working with clients to design and make memorials for loved ones, I have often felt that I would like to have some form of training to be able to provide qualified support to clients to help them through their loss and grief.
Having been introduced to the Grief Recovery method some years ago and studying the programme, I trained to become a practitioner at the beginning of 2020. The course went really well and I felt it to be of enormous value to my life. The Grief Recovery Method can be used to talk about so many losses in our lives: divorce, redundancy, loss of health, pet loss and many others.
The practical programme is carefully taught, with every practitioner trained the same way to ensure that the course offers supportive guidance every step of the way. The course provides a safe environment where you are given specific tools to help you recover from loss.
As I completed the course, I looked forward to offering the programme on a 1:1 basis……but then Covid 19 arrived, suddenly grief, loss, fear and change are being experienced by so many.
• Sadness over huge changes to lives, separation from loved ones, plans being cancelled and the sense of isolation from our normal lives.
• Families losing their loved ones, made more difficult by the restrictions on hospital and nursing home visiting and limitations on funerals due to the pandemic.
The training was adapted so that we can now provide an online programme, with 1:1 support. Hopefully we will be able to offer soon the 1:1 in person.
