This week we travelled to cannock stadium to face The Drill, Who like ourselves had started the season strong and were unbeaten in their first 2 games.
Before Kick off we held a minutes silence for 12 year old Riley Townsend who tragically lost his life to mental health earlier this month. 😢
It took the drill all but 4 minutes to break the deadlock! when a floated free kick straight to there attacker on the back post for an easy tap in. 1-0 to the home side.
The chase weren't out of the game and we pressed on but the home defence were keeping us at bay.
20 minutes gone and a ball over the top into the box caused a bit of a scramble and mages to find its way in, 2-0 The Drill..
The Half time team talk was animated to say the least, but it was needed and sparked a reaction in the lads and they came out in the second half with a fire in their bellies.
The Chase were keeping the ball well and dominating possession but just like the first half the drill defence were very strong and we knew were gonna have to switch it round a bit, to give them something too think about.. good build up play resulted in a Curtis-Rhys Richards shot from the just outside the box caused the keeper a big problem in which he spilled it out to Nathan Edwards who calmly slotted home. 2-1 the hard work was starting to pay off.
As the game went on there was only one side looked likely to score and that was the chase, we pressed and pressed and after a few corners in quick succession, a whipped in corner from Liam Oneill was flicked onto the back post by Chris Bradley to find Nathan Edwards who tapped it home for his 2nd of the day! The Chase had pulled it back unbelievable hard work and determination from the lads 2-2 on the 86th minute.
Last 5 minutes and The Chase are pressing hard chasing that winner everyone forward we got caught on the break but fantastic tracking back from Tony Stephenson puts it out for a corner.. hearts in mouths time as the corner is whipped In from the drill and a leaping header looks to be going in, but an unbelievable goal line clearance from Sean Raddon to save us but not only that..... its cleared upfield but the drill keeper has come sprinting out to almost the halfway line a moment of madness he can only clear it in the path of Rio Robinson New who takes a few strides with the ball, composes himself and strikes the ball from 30 yards out into the open goal!!!!!!!
2-3 ABSOLUTE SCENES! who doesn't love a last minute winner, I know we do😅 I'm getting excited again just typing this out so you can only imagine the feeling yesterday 🩵The emotion & passion from the lads payed off in the end and was the difference between the two sides on the day.
We continue our winning run and come home with all 3 points!!!
Chase Ay We!!!!!!!!
