A quick job to finish my week prior to the bank holiday weekend.

Final preparation from the large patio project I’ve been on this summer. I had to put some drainage in place and level off the ground ready for the last of the slabs to go down. Can’t wait for final photos. Nothing too complicated but so classy. Watch this space.

Not much happening at the moment as I’ve taken some time off to install a new kitchen at home. Not so straight forward as I’ve ripped out right back to original framework of the building. Watch this space and I’ll show you some progress in later posts.

For now I had a quick repair to do for a summerhouse. Installation of 2 new fixed windows and some new cladding. Also a rip out of some old box hedging. The digger made easy work of pulling out the hedge including roots. All loaded into the trailer and driven to the burning pile (fire to be carried out in the winter). A final rake over and a new clean area ready for some later planting.

Not a great deal happening on site for me. One or 2 single day jobs as I’d booked time off to prepare for my daughter’s bday. The party was excellent and took place at our very own Shepherds hut, built by myself with a bit of help from a couple of my sub contractors.

I found some time to give some TLC to our farm track and then decided to surprise my family for when they returned home to an invisible kitchen. Having to undertake works for clients on their kitchens made me a little jealous. I’m not sure when I’ll get it done but apparently we are hosting Christmas so I better get cracking 😁

A massive issue at the moment is the lack of rain. Now the water companies are restricting users from using a hose pipe. This is a yearly occurrence now but what do we do about it???

The issue isn’t going to go away but an installation of a rain water harvesting system will be money well spent.

If you have expensive plants to water, vegetables to grow, livestock to tend to and bath or maybe a business premises that requires regular water for vehicles or building maintenance then a harvesting system is all you need.

Not only will it save on yearly water bills but you won’t have a company telling you that you’re not allowed to use a hose or they can’t provide you water because of another burst pipe.

There are lots of systems now on the market ranging from a simple tank to water your garden with or a system that filters the water and feeds it back into your house so you can use to flush your toilets or wash your clothing.

If you would like to discuss further then please don’t hesitate to give me a call.

My last project involved ground clearance providing more garden space. This weeks project involved providing more space within the home.

I was asked to create some usable loft space. The roof voids in this house are vast and apart from maybe a few tradesmen who gained access into this space through a rather small hole, it’s safe to say that I’m one of only a few that have ever seen this area in maybe a couple of hundred years…..maybe longer.

It was dark, dusty, and not exactly level but now my client has lots of space for storage, freeing up the bedroom below to now have people round to stay.

- floors boarded
- loft hatch installed
- loft ladder with additional handrail installed
- lighting (courtesy of my good friend O’Briens Electrical) - I can’t tell you how many projects we have worked on together now.

Need some extra space created in your home then drop me message or call 📞

Not much to mention here if you watched my last video. Another clearance area on the same job BUT…….a really cool find.

Not everyone will have one of these in their gardens.

Watch the video to find out.

Another clearance job. This flail is certainly earning its keep. I’ll explain all in the video but for those that don’t like the sound of my voice, here’s an explanation…….

Client is selling. I’m tidying up bramble, bracken, thistles etc. Aim…to look neat, show boundaries and the land someone would be buying 😁

Caught up on a bit of paperwork due to this heat. I know there are some that would be at work but this isn’t for me. Found some time to put a little video together of a recent sore clearance job. Enjoy

What a difference a day of clearing makes. I try not to work on too many Saturdays as I want to be home with the family, but next weeks going to be very hot so I can see me cancelling some work for a few days. This is the new project I’ve been working on, preparing the site for renovation works. This back garden had very limited sunlight due to the overhanging trees from the bank behind. Carefully selected trees and branches were cut to provide the client with the clearing he needs without ruining habitat for the wildlife or causing issues with the steep bank behind.
