A lovely setting for our recent garden design project, a house in a prominent location on Totteridge Common, a Conservation area within the London Borough of Barnet, with stunning views out across London from the back.
The recently extended and modernised, luxury house, enjoys an elevated position with a ba k garden that slopes dramatically away from the house.
Slopes and level changes can be tricky, with a lot of working out and double checking required to calculate; level changes, heights of retaining walls, numbers of steps and orientation of the terraces - itβs only maths though and the extra head work required is worth it!
Give me a sloping garden to design any day; level changes offer exciting potential, giving you the chance to create dynamic, usable spaces, enticing you on a journey, following sight lines and focal points, inviting movement along paths and opening up new vistas to you around the garden.
The garden design for this project contains secluded, seating areas, an air-source, heated, swimming pool, a limestone, paved surround for lounging and planted terrace steps, creating seclusion, privacy and space to relax, with lots of planting to soften it all.
If this post has inspired you to have your garden designed in 2025 please get in touch, we would love to work with you. π± π± π±
