We caught up with WaterSafe member Kev Bate of KB Plumbing & Heating, based in Cornwall, about running a trusted family business built on professionalism and safety.

👨‍🔧 For 18 years, Kev has prioritised qualifications (from Level 3 Plumbing and Heating and Gas Safe registration to Water Regs and Air Source Heat Pumps training) to ensure quality and safety.

💧 Kev is a strong supporter of the WaterSafe pledge to only carry and use lead-free solder: "There is simply no need for a plumber to be using lead solder today, and I personally feel it should be banned and not sold at all."

💚 K B Plumbing exclusively uses lead-free solder across all water and gas systems. As a toxic heavy metal, lead poses serious health risks and Kevin believes plumbers have a crucial duty of care to protect their customers' health.

👨‍👦 Kev’s future plans involve continuing to train his son in the trade and eventually bringing his other son into the business, maintaining the family focus on high standards and excellent customer service.

Cheeky little combi boiler swap.

Ideal Isar removed and replaced with a Baxi/Main eco Compact with 5 year manufacturer warranty.

Hot water and heating restored within 48 hours.

The last couple of weeks we have been removing and replacing complete showering units which has included repairing damaged plasterboard,installing new shower boarding,installing new tray and shower.
Removing and installing a new shower tray and enclosure that was previously fitted poorly and not level by another company.
1st fixing hot and cold pipework for a kitchen relocation.
Finally 2nd fixing a complete shower room in Lantaglos Highway.

Yesterday we started this new shower cubicle.

Ripped out and disposed of the old enclosure,tray and electric shower. And replaced it with a low level tray, modern shower boarding,thermostatic mixer shower run of the combi boiler and new shower enclosure.

Tough long day but very satisfying when you see the end result. 💪🏼👍🏼

Out with the old and in with the new.

Stripped out and disposed of the old shower cubicle, repaired the water damaged walls and fitted new tray,shower, shower boarding and enclosure.

This week I replaced a 15 year old Glow Worm boiler.

I’ve been looking after it for over a decade servicing it yearly and repairing it when broken but now it’s beyond economical repair. 😞

So in with the new Ideal Logic Max with 10 year manufacturer warranty. 👍🏼💪🏼

A few weeks ago I travelled up to Leicestershire to replace a standard toilet with an assisted living seat to a comfort height toilet which a local to the area plumbing company had quoted over 3k to do.

I couldn’t see a member of my family ripped off by a chancer, so over a weekend I travelled up and completely gutted it. I installed a concealed cistern and motion sensor flush, replaced the flooring with vinyl clicker waterproof flooring, covered the walls with waterproof boarding and installed a comfort height raised back to wall toilet pan.

All for a fraction of the 3k quoted just to replace the toilet. 🚽
