Shoulder-barging a door that closed fine all winter? You are not imagining it. Timber absorbs moisture from humid summer air and swells just enough to bind in the frame, and loose hinge screws let the door sag and catch at the top corner. It is the most common joinery callout we get in St Helens every June.
The proper fix takes under an hour per door: tighten or repair the hinges, plane the binding edge, then seal the bare timber so it cannot swell again next year. That last step is the one most DIY fixes miss. Doors with splits, rot, or delaminating faces are better replaced, and we will tell you honestly which yours needs. A house full of sticking doors is usually sorted in one morning, typically well under £100 per door.
