What a difference a few weeks makes 👷‍♂️

Since starting this project in Knutsford village, the transformation on site has moved quickly. The existing garage has been demolished, foundations have been dug and formed, and the steel frame for the new extension is now in place.

This 100 m² single-storey extension will create a spacious open-plan kitchen, utility room and integrated garage, which will also house the home’s new heating and hot water plant room.

Alongside the build, we’ll also be completing external groundworks and landscaping to the front and rear, ensuring the finished result complements the character of this beautiful period property.

Great momentum on this one — looking forward to sharing the next stage as the structure continues to take shape.

Meet Dean.

Founder and Director of Prime Building Projects.

Dean began his career as a joiner, working on large-scale developments across the North West. His technical knowledge, attention to detail and ability to manage complex builds led him into senior project management roles on multi-million-pound schemes.

In 2015, he established Prime to bring that same level of structure, quality and oversight to private homeowners. The aim was simple: deliver high-end projects properly, with clear communication and a trusted team.

Dean remains hands-on and present on site. He oversees each stage of the build, supports the joinery when needed and works closely with carefully selected trades to ensure standards are consistently high.

Prime is a family business built on reputation, long-standing relationships and quality workmanship — and that approach starts with Dean.

At this Chorlton family home, we’re delivering a full refurbishment alongside a 10-metre-wide rear kitchen extension, designed to completely change how the space is used and enjoyed.

✔️ Sliding doors and a sleek flat roof to maximise light and flow in the kitchen
✔️ Full rewire and brand-new heating system powered by a highly efficient heat pump
✔️ Upgraded insulation to the external walls and roof, prioritising both environmental impact and long-term energy savings
✔️ A zinc-clad loft dormer extension, extending the home upwards to create valuable additional space

With sustainability and running costs at the forefront of the brief, this project shows how thoughtful design and modern building methods can future-proof a family home.

Weeks ahead of schedule on our Chorlton project 🙌
The zinc cladding is now on — and it’s looking fantastic. We’ve also started roofing the rear first-floor extension, bringing this transformation another big step closer.

Progress from our Chorlton project 👷‍♂️
We’re insulating and prepping the dormer for its zinc cladding — including wall and roof insulation, a vapour control layer, and battens ready for plasterboarding.

The home is fully enclosed with weatherproof scaffolding, keeping it protected while we transform the loft into a spacious new bedroom, en-suite and dressing room.
