🚨 EMERGENCY RESPONSE | QUAYSIDE SHOPPING MALL, MEDIA CITY
Another example of where Griffin Installations had to think quickly, work safely and deliver a bespoke solution.
We received an emergency call to attend a smashed shopfront window at Quayside Shopping Mall, Media City, Salford, creating an immediate safety concern in a busy public environment.
Our priority was simple — make the area safe, isolate the danger and create a secure working environment for the glazing team.
Working within a live shopping mall meant we also had to carefully consider shoppers, existing finishes and the expensive tiled flooring.
Rather than fixing into the building, we designed and constructed a completely freestanding temporary enclosure, using:
🔨 3x2 timber framework
🔨 9mm plywood
🔨 MDF/plywood panels
🔨 Bespoke bracing and feet
🔨 Sandbags for additional stability
🔨 A secure access door with lock
The result was effectively a temporary room built around the damaged shopfront, which will allow the glazing contractors to safely remove the damaged glass.
The challenge was also creating a safe route through the mall while the work was taking place — keeping shoppers separated from the work area and maintaining a professional appearance throughout.
And importantly, the structure was designed so that nothing needed to be fixed into the mall’s floors or surrounding walls, protecting the existing finishes while still providing a robust and secure enclosure.
From an emergency call-out to a fully constructed, secure working environment — quick response, practical thinking and bespoke construction when it’s needed.
That’s what we mean when we say:
