CORE organise a brilliant range of off-road motorbike events across the South West, from Hare & Hounds races to Enduro Sprints and practice days, bringing together riders of all abilities who enjoy a bit of mud and a good challenge.

The events provide a great opportunity for riders to challenge themselves, develop their skills and enjoy the sport in a well-organised and welcoming environment, while also bringing together the wider off-road community.

We’re proud to have started enabling works at the Cross Lanes Lithium Project near Truro.

Appointed by Cornish Lithium, our team will be delivering the essential groundwork ahead of the installation of the demonstration plant.

It’s great to see major projects investing in Cornwall and local contractors playing a key role in their delivery.

Local Partner Secured! ✅ We’re pleased to share that enabling works have started at our Cross Lanes Lithium Project near Truro, delivered by Cornish contractor WH Bond & Sons.

This marks an important step forward for the project, following exploration results that confirmed strong potential for commercial lithium extraction from the geothermal waters beneath the site.

WH Bond & Sons will deliver essential groundwork ahead of installing our modular lithium demonstration plant, building on the successful exploration completed in 2023.

As we wrapped up for 2025, we also said a fond farewell to Keith, who is beginning a very well-earned retirement.

Keith has been a familiar face in the yard for many years, handling countless timber orders, picking stock, and serving customers with care, knowledge and good humour. He has been a valued part of our team, and his experience and steady presence will be greatly missed by colleagues and customers alike.

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Keith for everything he has contributed over the years, and we wish him a happy, healthy and thoroughly enjoyable retirement.

We Are Hiring: Senior Contracts Manager

Contracting Division – Civil Engineering and Groundworks

Come and join our family business at WH Bond & Sons Ltd! Due to our current and projected workload, we are looking for a Senior Contracts Manager to join our contracting team, based at our office in Trerulefoot, Saltash, Cornwall.
In this role, you will oversee live projects, work closely with our Commercial and Health & Safety teams, and support both pre- and post-contract processes. This is a varied position involving a combination of office-based work, site visits, and collaboration with clients and colleagues. Our work includes civil engineering and groundworks projects across Cornwall, Devon and occasionally Somerset, ranging from small works to multi-million-pound schemes.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare tender programmes and assist with pre-contract document production
Plan and manage projects through to completion, including programme management, resourcing, progress meetings, design review and procurement
Support the daily operational requirements of the Contracting Division, coordinating with senior management, site teams, commercial and health & safety colleagues
Ensure projects are delivered to high quality and safety standards, on time and within budget
Coordinate effectively with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
Carry out site visits and attend meetings as required

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience and capability. The following would be beneficial:
A construction-related or management qualification (or equivalent experience)
Knowledge of civil engineering and groundworks
Experience leading projects from an operational perspective

Our colleague Karen will be taking part in the Sleep Out at the Eden Project in aid of St Petrocs, helping to raise awareness and funds for people facing homelessness here in Cornwall. It’s a brave thing to do on a cold night, and we’re proud of Karen for stepping up to support such an important cause.

One night outside won’t reflect what many people go through daily, but it does help shine a light on the issue and support the vital work St Petrocs provide in our communities.
