Another loft transformation completed in Normanby! ✅
We removed and responsibly disposed of all the old insulation and boarding before installing:
✔️ New 300mm loft insulation
✔️ Raised loft boarding system
✔️ LED strip lighting
✔️ Fakro timber folding loft ladder
To help prevent condensation issues during the winter months, we also improved the loft ventilation. This is especially important in properties with older non-breathable roofing felt, helping to maintain a healthier and more efficient loft space.

A loft ladder installed today in Redcar.
As you can see, this property had already undergone extensive decorative work, so we supplied a larger 70x120 hatch to keep any additional decorating to an absolute minimum after installation.
To put the size into perspective for anyone who doesn’t deal with measurements every day — this hatch is large enough to pass a standard oven, washing machine or fridge through it… although I definitely wouldn’t recommend trying that! 😅
Overall, a great result and another happy customer.

Job completed in Redcar today on an older property where the existing loft insulation had definitely seen better days.
We removed and responsibly disposed of all the old insulation along with leftover boards and debris, then installed brand new 300mm loft insulation to bring the loft back up to modern standards.
To create safe and practical storage space without compressing the insulation, we built a raised loft storage platform.
We also supplied and fitted felt lap vents to help improve airflow and increase loft ventilation now the insulation is performing properly again.
We then removed the old small loft hatch and upgraded it to a much larger Fakro 70x111 insulated hatch complete with a timber folding loft ladder for far easier and safer access.
To finish the job off, we installed a new mains-powered LED strip light to give the customer bright, reliable lighting throughout the loft space.

Had a few customers asking me about this so thought I would put this information on for you to take a look at.
A loft storage area and a habitable loft room are two completely different things — and they should be insulated differently.
A standard loft used for storage is usually designed as a cold loft.
The purpose is to keep the heat inside the rooms below by insulating at ceiling level, while allowing the loft space itself to remain cold and ventilated.
That means the priorities are:
✔ Good loft floor insulation
✔ Proper airflow from the eaves
✔ Ventilation to prevent condensation
✔ Raised boarding that doesn’t squash insulation
A habitable loft conversion is different.
Because the loft itself becomes a heated living space, the insulation moves to the roof slopes (rafters) to create a warm roof.
The problem is when products designed for warm roof systems are sold into standard storage lofts where they often aren’t needed.
In many cases, adding foil insulation to the underside of a cold pitched roof can reduce airflow and increase the risk of trapped moisture if ventilation isn’t properly maintained.
To be clear — there is absolutely nothing wrong with Airtec or similar foil insulation products when they are used correctly and in the right application. They can work very well as part of a properly designed warm roof or loft conversion system.
Our point is simply that not every storage loft needs rafter insulation added as an upgrade.
We believe in installing what customers genuinely need — not upselling unnecessary extras.
For a storage loft, the goal is simple:
Keep the heat below the ceiling and let the roof space breathe properly.

Some great before-and-after shots from a job we completed in Eston today. The customer now has loads of usable storage space, all professionally raised above the insulation with safe, secure access throughout.
We also installed a FAKRO wooden loft ladder and hatch, 280 sqft of raised loft boarding, and a mains-powered LED strip light to finish the space off perfectly. A huge transformation and a much more practical, safer loft area for everyday use.
