Charles Lightoller was the highest-ranking officer to survive the sinking of the Titanic in 1912.

During the disaster, he strictly enforced the “women and children first” rule and helped load lifeboats until the very last moments as the ship went down.

When the Titanic finally sank, Lightoller was pulled underwater by the suction of the ship. According to his own account, a blast from a boiler or vent forced him back to the surface, likely saving his life.

He eventually climbed onto an overturned collapsible lifeboat with other survivors and managed to stay alive in the freezing Atlantic Ocean until rescue arrived.

Lightoller later continued an extraordinary life of service. During World War II, at nearly 70 years old, he used his personal boat, the Sundowner, to help evacuate soldiers from Dunkirk in 1940.

Despite being designed for far fewer people, the boat brought back over 100 British troops safely across the English Channel.

Nice job, though you should have cut your piping across the roll then you could have lined up your stripes with the top instead of them looking wonky.
