We have been appointed as the Main Contractor for the installation of Sports Flood Lighting at Aston Bowling Club. We look forward to commencing with the project in late September
๐จFANTASTIC NEWS FOR ASTON BC๐จ
Aston's Committee is thrilled to announce that The Aston Bowling Club Floodlighting Project has received ยฃ25,768 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The Club would like to extend a Massive THANK YOU to Flintshire Local Voluntary Council and Cadwyn Clwyd for granting our funding application!
This, along with the money raised by friends and family of the club on our JustGiving page means that we now have enough money to fund the project! Thanks to everyone who donated. It was lovely to read all of the messages on the donation pages from friends of the club and family of current and past members in memory of their loved ones who once bowled here. ๐๏ธ
The Club has appointed local firm, LMC Lighting & Electrical Services, to be the main contractor for the Floodlighting Project with major on-site works due to commence at the close of the bowling season in September.
Additionally, as part of the Club's green responsibility, we have appointed local community group, Veterans & Community Hub CIC to carryout landscaping works including hedge planting at the Club.
The lack of adequate floodlighting at the club has been a drawback for many years at the start and end of the season.
This grant will put Aston BC firmly on the map as one of the best bowling facilities in the area. These purpose designed, top quality floodlights will go hand-in-hand with our perfectly manicured green, and Clubhouse facilities.
This is the biggest funding the club has received in over 25 years since fundraising for our Clubhouse.
This project wouldnt've been possible without the exceptional work from Tony Hughes, one of our newest Members and Committee Members, who drew up the comprehensive plans for the planning application to Flintshire County Council.
Another two members who all our members owe thanks to are Kate Sumner & Les Thompson.
Kate has been charged with the tough task of Grants & Funding Officer for the Club. She, along with Tony, has tirelessly applied for grants and funding to numerous local firms, and national associations and has remained positive and dedicated in her work despite inevitable setbacks. She was instrumental in setting up our EasyFunding and JustGiving pages to drum up support from our Members and the Local Community too.
Les Thompson, Club Secretary, has worked with Tony, to speak to multiple local contractors who specialise in Sports Floodlighting to try and come up with a bespoke design for our Floodlights and gather quotations for the works.
The Future is looking BRIGHT at Aston Bowling Club! ๐ก ๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก๐ก
