We recently had the pleasure of welcoming our good friend Leigh Cole, CEO and Founder of HABS - Strength In Mind, to our office to officially present the funds raised at our recent Charity Golf Day.

It was fantastic to hear first-hand how the money raised is already making a real difference. Knowing that the support from everyone involved is helping HABS expand its services and reach more people who need it most makes the day even more worthwhile.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, donated and supported the event. Your generosity enabled us to raise an incredible £12,612.36 for this fantastic charity.

Hot melt waterproofing systems provide a fully bonded, seamless solution for flat roofs and podium areas where long-term durability and reliable performance are essential.

The hot-applied, rubberised-bitumen membrane is poured in a liquid state and reinforced with fabric to form a continuous, monolithic waterproofing layer. Bonding directly to the prepared substrate helps reduce the risk of water tracking beneath the system.

Hot melt membranes are typically manufactured from a blend of refined bitumen, synthetic rubber and mineral stabilisers. Specialist additives improve adhesion and low-temperature flexibility, while some systems also incorporate post-consumer recycled materials.

At T & T Roofing Limited, our trained operatives install hot melt waterproofing systems using specialist application equipment, including purpose-built hot melt boilers and installation tools. All equipment is regularly inspected and maintained in accordance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) to help ensure safe operation and consistent installation standards.

These systems can be applied to horizontal and vertical surfaces and incorporated within protected membrane and inverted roof build-ups. Their flexibility and self-healing characteristics make them particularly suitable for zero-falls and low-falls roofs, complex detailing, penetrations and areas subject to regular access or heavy loading.

Every installation is carefully coordinated with the wider roofing package, including insulation, drainage, structural interfaces and finished surfaces, to deliver robust, long-lasting waterproofing solutions.

As we continue to reflect on our completed projects, we look back at our work at Beaulieu Park in Chelmsford, where T & T Roofing Limited was appointed by Cala Homes to deliver the roofing and waterproofing package across this residential development.

The development comprises 72 one- and two-bedroom apartments, alongside 73 three-, four- and five-bedroom houses.

Completed in January 2025, our 208-week programme covered approximately 1,000 m² across a wide variety of properties. Our package included:

• Widopan PMMA liquid waterproofing to flat roofs, terraces and balconies
• Concrete paving installed on adjustable pedestal systems
• Plywood substrates installed to falls
• Bespoke powder-coated aluminium parapet cappings
• Independent electronic integrity testing to all roof areas before the paving finishes were installed

The Widopan PMMA system provided seamless and durable waterproofing across multiple plots and a range of flat roof, terrace and balcony applications.

Despite programme changes and fluctuations in material costs throughout the project, T & T Roofing Limited maintained the original contract value, with no price uplift passed on to the client.

The works were successfully completed in accordance with the project requirements through careful planning and close coordination with Cala Homes and our supply chain.

Project Update
Lower Essex Street, Birmingham, B5 6SN

Works are continuing at Lower Essex Street, where T & T Roofing Limited is delivering a comprehensive waterproofing package using Radmat waterproofing systems.

The scope includes hot melt waterproofing to the primary main roof areas, along with cold-applied liquid waterproofing to various walkways and terraces.

The roof areas will be finished with biodiverse green roof sedum blankets, while the terraces and walkways will be completed with concrete paving set on non-combustible pedestals. This requires careful sequencing to ensure the waterproofing system remains fully protected throughout the construction process.

With one phase of the project rising to 27 storeys, access planning, material deliveries and the protection of completed works continue to be managed through a disciplined and methodical approach.

Given the scale and complexity of the project, formal inspection processes are being followed throughout. T & T Roofing Limited has also sourced insurance-backed warranties to support the required roof sign-offs before the final roof finishes are installed, providing confidence in both the waterproofing system and the quality of installation.

Wimbourne Street & Buckland Street, Hoxton, Hackney, London N1

Great progress is being made at our Buckland Street and Wimbourne Street projects in Hoxton, where our roofing works are progressing well across the development.

Our scope includes the installation of Bauder Total Roofing Systems across multiple main roof areas, link roofs and terraces, incorporating tapered insulation schemes designed to achieve the required falls, drainage performance and long-term waterproofing integrity.

Cold-applied liquid waterproofing systems are also being installed on designated balcony areas, providing a seamless, fully bonded and durable waterproof finish.

In addition, our team is completing all associated metal flashings, perimeter edge details, and hard and soft finishes in line with the project specification and design requirements.

Roof-safe access systems have also been installed, including freestanding handrail systems and man-safe systems, helping to provide safe access for future inspection and maintenance.

All works are being delivered by trained and competent operatives in accordance with approved drawings, relevant British Standards, Bauder installation guidelines and project requirements.

T & T Roofing Limited has recently commenced works on a new project at the prestigious Wycombe Abbey School.

The project involves the installation of a bituminous felt membrane warm roof build-up with green roof finishes, providing a robust and sustainable roofing solution. Works also include the installation of PPC aluminium fascia and soffit, together with Mansafe systems to facilitate safe future access and maintenance.

Our team is currently on site carrying out the initial stages of the programme with the waterproofing to the main roof, before returning to complete the lower level and green roof finishes, and we look forward to progressing the works over the coming months.

We’re proud to announce the launch of the T & T Roofing Limited Apprentice Programme, which officially began on 13th April.

Over the next couple of months, we will welcome one new apprentice each week into our business - creating opportunities for local people to learn a skilled trade, gain hands-on experience, and build long-term careers within the roofing industry.

This is a senior with full responsibility for delivering multiple roofing projects from handover through to final account. You’ll be client-facing, leading an immediate office team and site operatives, managing programmes, controlling costs, and taking ownership of performance and delivery.

We’re looking for someone commercially aware, organised and decisive, with proven experience in roofing and the wider building envelope. Experience is essential.

Based in Sawston and projects are Nationwide.
