I haven't posted in a while, but something happened recently that I feel compelled to share.
Too often, I'm seeing elderly and vulnerable customers being overcharged or taken advantage of—and it needs to stop.
A customer recently called me for a second opinion on their garage door. Another company had quoted them an eye-watering price to replace the motor. When I examined the door myself, I discovered the real issues: a faulty motor AND control unit—but both could be addressed properly without breaking the bank.
Here's where it gets worse: when I stripped the door down, I found that this same company had previously installed the wrong motor entirely. They'd fitted a single-door motor on a double door. No wonder it failed.
For LESS than what they quoted for just a motor replacement, I was able to install:
✓ A properly rated motor suitable for a double door
✓ A new control system
✓ A complete safety edge system
✓ New remote controls
This is exactly why I do what I do. Many companies use local phone numbers to appear like they're in your area when they're not. Others hide behind big company names while cutting corners.
As a small, local business, my reputation is everything. I generate the majority of my work through word of mouth, and that's because I go above and beyond to ensure every customer gets the right solution at a fair price—not the most expensive one.
If you or someone you know needs garage door service, please get a second opinion. You deserve honest work at honest prices.
