🌪️ Storm Season 2025/26 Has Officially Begun! 🌧️
The Met Office, Met Éireann, and KNMI have unveiled this year’s storm names, and for the first time, every single one was submitted by the public. From beloved pets to everyday heroes, the names reflect personal stories and heartfelt tributes.
🌀 The first storms to watch out for are Amy, Bram, and Chandra, followed by names like Dave, Stevie, Violet, and Oscar, yes, even a cat who loved the wind made the list!
📋 The full list includes 21 names, skipping Q, U, X, Y, and Z, and runs from September 2025 to August 2026.
Storms are named when they’re forecast to bring medium to high impacts, typically strong winds, but also heavy rain or snow. Naming helps raise awareness, improve communication, and prompt action. In fact, surveys show that over 90% of people take action when a named storm is announced.
Although the UK has recently experienced severe weather, including gusts up to 78mph, widespread flooding, and power outages, the Met Office has not yet named any storm.
At Ice Watch, we’re ready. Our teams are on standby to respond to severe weather alerts, keeping your sites safe, compliant, and operational throughout the season.
