Natural Pools How to build your own Natural Pool Organic Pools are Natural Swimming Pools or Swimming Ponds that work with nature to provide hygienic water for swimming.

Plants and animals condition the water so there is no need for chlorine or other pesticides. These pools are good for people and wildlife. I built my first Natural Swimming Pool, not because I like a challenge, indeed I'd prefer to be lazing by the side of a pool rather than digging it, but because it was the only way I could afford to have one. Over the past five years, building my own pools and

meeting experts on Natural Swimming Pools, I have re-thought the processes needed to create hygienic swimming water and I have come up with a system completely geared to fellow DIY pond builders. I try to minimise resources, incorporating reclaimed materials and I even make filters from reused household objects and domestic plumbing. In addition, my pools use a fraction of the electrical energy most Natural Swimming Pools require to maintain them. All of this is achieved without compromising healthy water. The water was recently tested and shown to be of drinking water quality. And of course, these pools have been designed to benefit wildlife - they are a nature reserve you can swim in! I hope by showing you how I've done it, you will be inspired to start digging for yourself.

Oasis in Bulgaria
Hi David,
One year ago we built a small swimming pond following your principle and process. We live in Bulgaria, in a region where only little water is available. During summer and autumn it becomes unbearable hot and our rainwater collecting pond is not only enjoyable for me and my family, but developed into an oasis in the middle of an agricultural landscape. So, thank you for leading the way and making our life’s more beautiful.

Fluff and other organic pool disasters. People are always raving over these pools but what is it really like to live with one? It is already looking too pretty and most of the flowers haven’t appeared yet! I’ve got no idea if my senses will cope when the lilies start to bud. Here I navigate through various flower based hazards awaiting those escaping the summer heat for the cool waters of an organic pool.
