We're occasionally asked how we cut the curves we use for our braces and collars. Do we use a bandsaw?

Nope... we use a chainsaw.

For small braces, struts, etc. we use a small Makita electric saw. For larger curves, we use a Westmac Jonsered 630 adapted with a steel plate to maintain a consistent 90° angle to the piece. It's a really great tool - reliable (even after 30+ years of regular heavy work) and easily powerful enough to rip cut the thickest curves.

If a public figure spews racist hatred to rile up a baying hateful mob flying sw****ka flags like a N**i - enacts repressive fascistic executive orders targetting the disadvantaged and demonising minorities like a N**i - betrays the very culture of democracy that gave them the freedom to live their life of privilege to embrace a despotic and murderous enemy like a N**i - and is even bold enough to salute on stage and television like a N**i... then they're a damn N**i!

We cannot just say and do nothing, neither as private individuals nor in our professional lives.

Ergo, we have have removed all links on our website to the cess pool of fascist filth that is X (formerly Twitter). Instead, you can find us on Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms.
We understand this may have a negative impact on our on-line visibility, but as far as we are concerned they are X by name and X by nature... gone... purged.

With a further green oak frame commission now booked in to follow on from our two current projects, the next available slot in our workshop schedule will be from May 2025.

Sunnymede Barn is the home of Sessile Oak.

We started working on the groundworks in the winter of 2007-8, a little over seventeen years ago. We had it roofed, clad and ready to use by the end of that summer and, since then, more than fifty oak frame projects have progressed though it - some small and others quite sizeable, and a few which have become well established and loved landmarks in their own right around the county and country. It has proven itself a robust and useful structure, easily withstanding the strongest gales and storms without so much as a shudder, as well as a great space to work.

Website & Emails

We're delighted to say our website and emails are now all back online and working smoothly.
It's been a long job revamping it all and migrating over to our new hosting provider but we got there in the end. Thanks for your patience.
