What a way to end a Friday.
I’ve just spent the best part of two hours chasing a fault on an Ideal Logic — the dreaded rumbling noise that seems to plague so many of them.
By now I know the drill. Strip it down, clean every combustion component within an inch of its life, wash out the heat exchanger, check everything twice and then start again. This one had me scratching my head for a while, but eventually I tracked it down to a gas valve as well. New valve fitted, boiler running beautifully, customer happy.
As I was packing my tools away after a long day, my customer’s 6-year-old daughter, who had been quietly drawing at the kitchen table the whole time, walked over and handed me a picture she’d made.
On the back she’d written a little note that simply said:
“I love you.”
Now, I know she probably meant “thank you for fixing our heating” rather than anything else, but I’ll be honest — after a long week, it genuinely put a lump in my throat 🥺
Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the boilers, breakdowns, schedules, traffic and endless to-do lists. Then something as simple as a child’s drawing reminds you that what we do makes a difference to people’s homes and families.
A fabulous end to a long week’s graft.
Happy Friday everyone 💪❤️
