Few jobs were getting in just before Christmas. A very busy period! An existing customer asked us to come back for some RGB tape around their orangery for karaoke and movie nights!

This tape can be remote and app controlled.

Little tidy up today, sorting out a mess of an install into some better segregated RCBO protection with surge protection. No earth at any lights or light switches (metal switches) ,earths cut out at multiple switches, no ring continuity, high ring continuity. On top of other c1s and c2s. All passed as satisfactory this year from an EICR prior to customers moving in and installed originally installed 3 years ago!

TDR was referred to this customer for an original EICR. After finding a multitude of dangerous and potentially dangerous aspects to this installation and speaking with the client the best thing for this property was a fresh rewire.

Customer now has full peace of mind in their home with additional interlinked smoke alarms throughout the property. A new consumer unit has been installed filled with Bi-directional RCBOs for future proofing the installation as well as providing additional protection to the end user.

This original board was from a 4 year old rewire and board upgrade. The customer originally only asked us over to change some accessories. After testing the condition of the RCD at the end of the replacements, it failed. Popped back to replace and the circuits start tripping, pretty convinced it was dud when installed originally. After seeing the standard of install from brief visual inspection for such a new rewire we found the customer also never received certification for the works. Following an EICR we found a few errors such as no cpc continuity, high ring readings, reversed polarity, basic insulation on show and borrowed neutral.

We have upgraded the board with bi-directional RCBOS to better suit new solar regulations and provide surge protection and sorted the errors on the circuits and tidied up the mess of cables. The customer opted to have the heat pump installed into a separate DB to allow for Type B RCD protection as well.
