On Friday, Ian Burfitt retired after a remarkable 40 years as co-founder and director of Burfitt and Garrett. We would like to wish Ian a huge congratulations on his retirement. We hope you have a well-deserved relaxing, long and fulfilling retirement.

With a little more spare time on your hands, we are expecting to see much improvement on your results in the Tisbury Football Predictor League next season!

As 2025 draws to a close, we are delighted to share these incredible photographs by , showing a fantastic project Burfitt and Garrett completed earlier this year on a grade II listed Wiltshire property.

Internally, the project consisted of the complete refurbishment of three Bathrooms, Loft room and the Utility room alongside further decorating works. This was all meticulously designed by our Clients

On the external fabric of the building, the property was re-roofed using a combination of reclaimed and salvaged Welsh slates. Lime Render was applied to one elevation, alongside several new timber windows.

In the garden, Burfitt and Garrett constructed the new base, flooring and planters for a stunning new greenhouse from . A curved seating area was built with greenstone walling and circular paving area, maximising the fantastic views from the top of the Garden. Further landscaping and remedial works have also been completed to the garden walling, paving, steps and drainage.

We are delighted to share this striking Porch transformation in Wiltshire.

The old timber construction has been replaced by a stunning open porch. The dwarf walls have been constructed using brick plinths and ashlar greenstone to match the walls on the original grade II listed property.
The main frame has been constructed using decorative trellis metalwork and finished with a curved zinc roof. Inside flagstone flooring has been added with painted tongue and groove boarding to the soffit.

Burfitt and Garrett Ltd completed this new build Garage, Workshop and Studio in 2024. The project consisted of demolishing the existing tired outbuildings and replacing them with this multipurpose new build structure.

The existing roadside boundary wall was extensively underpinned, repaired, repointed and waterproofed to form the rear wall of the new structure.

The new building consisted of a well insulated cavity wall structure, with stained Douglas fir cladding and Accoya timber windows and doors. The east face of the building was constructed in natural Greenstone, with brickwork plinths. The flat roof was finished in zinc, with matching guttering and downpipes.

The courtyard has been transformed with the old concrete being removed and replaced with Cotswold gravel. New entrance ramps and steps have been built using cottage mix bricks.

We are delighted to share that Burfitt and Garrett have won a Salisbury Civic Society award for our involvement as Main Contractor on this stunning project in South Wiltshire. Ian Burfitt collected the award at the annual awards ceremony in Salisbury, alongside the Clients and Architect John Comparelli.
This is our fourth Salisbury Civic Society award, including the prestigious Lady Radnor Award.

This project consisted of adding an extension to a grade II listed property to match a previously demolished outbuilding. The walls were constructed using local greenstone and reclaimed handmade tiles were used on the roof.
