One pass drilled behind maize stubble with our Opico tine & disc combination cultivator.

A picture speaks a thousand words 🌱

Last autumns grass seeds are looking well after such a dreadful end to the winter.

Destined for maize again this stubble will be ploughed under, not just helping to fill our clamps but to improve soil health.

Twin row drilling maize this evening in to soil prepared with our simba toptilth cultivator. A seed bed with a good mix of fine soil for seed contact and clods for moisture retention in the soil - no risk of damaging soil structure by over working with a diesel guzzling power harrow 👍🌱🌽

Our matermacc twin row drill maintains the 2" seed to fertiliser spacing but optimises ground usage with a 9" intra row spacing on the classic 30" centres.

Optimising ground cover not only increases plant space for growth and ripening it also increases rooting cover for uptake of the increasingly valuable nutrients in the soil.

Twin row maize drilling

•Now with double row fertiliser application as apposed to the factory standard single row application - fertiliser being applied 25mm from the seed rows, far enough to prevent scorching of the seed but closer than the original 110mm for the added earlier get up and go.

•Increase starch yield by up to 20% with no extra cost over conventional drilling.

•Aid moisture usage efficiency with 34% (at 42,500 seeds per acre) more available rooting area.

•Increased rooting area aids early vigor - up to 20% larger stem diameter and 10% taller than conventional maize grown side by side. Stem diameter also correlates with cob diameter - meaning more grain weight per plant and more starch per acre.

•Section control on the drill for shutting off each row so double drilling doesn't effect plant quality.

Also available - all types of cultivation equipment including plough, subsoil cultivator, power harrows, conventional maize drilling and our simba tine cultivator for cost efficient breaking down of maize ground.
