Can't help but share another pond... Just finished this as the first stage of making a large garden better for wildlife. It's a decent size pond with woodland planting to one side and grass with some added wildflower plugs to the other. We positioned the pond here as it's next to a scrubby area that is fenced off and left. The combination of the scrubby patch and the impressive bird feeding station the clients keep up with means there is already a lot of blue t**s and other birds in the garden.

Excited to see what the pond brings to the garden now and hopefully in time some more planting with winter seed heads to keep the birds even happier.

Removed a cherry tree from a front garden today (a rowan will be planted in it's place) - here's a little log pile I made from it with other bits being used elsewhere. I love the colour of the freshly cut wood!

Some sun is hitting the garden again after about a month where it doesn't quite reach. Hurray! New dead wood looking a bit crazy but great for adding some instant height

Pretty chuffed with how 2023 has gone. Can't imagine next year will be as exciting 😁... We were on , then on local news and talking about gardening for wildlife along with some photos and mentions in and other newspapers.

We opened our garden for the first time and raised over £450 for 2 great local charitys and .

And last of all had a big change leaving my brewing job of 8 years for to set up doing my dream job designing and building gardens for other people, giving wildlife a place to thrive in the process. I'm really looking forward to carrying this on in the new year and seeing what interesting projects come my way.

Little wildlife pond that I finished off today, reusing some pebbles and slabs from the garden and putting some dead wood in since the garden was otherwise fairly sterile. There's lots of plants in the soil but they're mainly little brown stems at the moment.

Euphorbia x pasteurii today and 1 from a couple of weeks ago. The last 2 winters it's been crushed by heavy snow so wanted to get a photo before that happened this year!

I put this fence up in late winter, earlier this year. It's looking very at home now thanks to a vigorous Clematis montana and the planting around it.

My favourite bit of Wisley was round the new Hilltop building. While there's a lot of old and traditional stuff at Wisley the new stuff is all forward thinking and a lot of areas of grass have been turned into meadows/left long etc.

This area is a real mosaic of ponds, perennial planting, trees and native meadows so each area is at more of a home garden scale. Definitely designed with biodiversity in mind and will hopefully give visitors lots of ideas to take away.
