It’s not every day you get to be a hero, but the other day I got a call out in the middle of the night to help an elderly woman who’s light was smoking! 🔥 She was super worried about leaving it overnight as it was, so when I turned up 20 mins later I carried out a test on the voltage. This came out at 415 volts when it should have been 240 volts so it was exceptionally dangerous and needed to be put right by the distributor 😵 I made it all safe for her that night so that she could have a good rest and helped contact her distributor to get the issue resolved. I’m pleased to say this is all now sorted but should you ever need an electrician in an emergency, I’m your guy!!

This was found at a recent inspection, the downlights had previously been installed (by someone else) without ensuring the cables were sufficiently clear of the fittings and without a thermal barrier. Over time the heat from the halogen bulbs has burnt straight through the cable and made the ceiling brittle! The occupants have been very lucky indeed! 🍀 If you're concerned about any of your electrical installation, don't hesitate to get in contact to discuss having an inspection! 💡

Busy day ahead tomorrow finding a fault at a customers home as the circuit keeps tripping! I love being a detective 🕵️‍♂️
