Wonderful trip to London this weekend. Couldn’t resist a visit to .ldn see the brilliant public realm landscape design. Loved seeing the different atmospheres created in the courtyards and soft spaces by the planting and landscaping. It would be tough to do in such built up/ overlooked areas but its really skilfully done.

Took a landscape architect friend down to see Grey to Green today. Every time I visit I am blown away by the scale and impact of this scheme. I’d be impressed if this was a garden but the fact that this is council maintained and in a formerly challenging part of town shows the power of really good design. Nice one .dunnett

A swimming pond seems to be top of everyone’s dream garden list at the moment and I can see why. Thank you to for inviting us over for a swim today to see what all the fuss is about! There’s nothing quite like a dip in the outdoors in a chemical free pool with dragonflies zooming past. So beautiful, and refreshing in a way that feels amazing for body and soul. Thanks Ellicar team… the pool and gardens is incredible and it was so nice to see such an established pool in all its glory.

Really impressed with the Landscape Architecture masters students in this years MMU end of year exhibition… the level of creativity and the incredible illustration work really made their projects come to life. It has been a brilliant new experience for me to be tutoring here this semester. There’s nothing quite like being in a learning environment and surrounded by interesting people from all over the world to reignite your passion for a subject.

Loved visiting exhibition today. So many varied projects and interesting artistic responses to the briefs. It was lovely being back in the Arts Tower where I got my qualifications as a landscape architect many years ago. I remember the course being really intense - there’s just so much to learn! Congratulations all you graduating students and good luck with all your next steps.

More pictures to follow but sneak preview of this lovely garden I designed and was planted last autumn. Just look at it thrive! Pollinators everywhere and very happy clients, who tell me that it changes every day. They love seeing what’s in flower next, and tracking it with a month by month guide I gave them on completion. Things have filled out more than had imagined, and it has been very well looked after indeed. ,

Heather wouldn’t ordinarily be my ‘go to’ when choosing plants for my gardens. I thought it looked… dated? but look at this rich carpet of the stuff at RHS Harlow Carr nr. Harrogate. I love the colour and the blend between shades and species. I love the Pinus species planted in this, amazing textures and winter colour a plenty. I must look again at Heather… maybe.

Thank you to Crafted Landscapes for the incredible install of this design. Faultless work and attention to detail. Elliott and his team were out in all weathers over the summer and we’re a pleasure to work with. I’m really proud of this design and the client is absolutely delighted. The planting needs a bit of time to settle in and do it’s thing now and this site is going to get better and better. I’m looking forward to seeing this all happen. Thanks Elliott!
