Our team tested three different brands of plug-in heaters promoted via online ads. The plug on this particular unit failed to meet UK safety standards, which could put users at risk of electric shock.

If you had a consumer unit installed in or around 2009-2010, made by one of the following brands; Wylex, Crabtree, Volex, Newlec, Sector, Steeple or Alto, you should arrange to have the unit checked by a qualified electrician to see if it comes under the recall, without delay.

The manufacturer is responsible for the cost of all labour and materials, should you need anything replaced.

If you are unsure if yours is at risk, please feel free to send me a picture of your consumer unit for further advice.
