Home Run - our new virtual fundraising event - begins this Monday, 1 March and Millstone FC Ladies are taking part to help them get in shape for a return to the pitch in the Sheffield and Hallamshire Women and Girls’ League.
Stacey Mullee, one of the players and also a member of the St Luke's Hospitality team, says: "We’re a new football team and ever since we started playing it’s been all stop and start. I suggested we could use Home Run to work on our fitness and also raise some money for St Luke’s at the same time."
The team will be completing their own individual 13 mile runs, in line with current social distancing guidelines.
“People think that because we play football it will be relatively easy but when you’re on the pitch you’re thinking about the ball and you’re not thinking about how far you’ve run," says Stacey.
“But it’s going to be a great way to get fit again and we’re all looking forward to being able to say we did it.”
Fancy taking part in Home Run too? The challenge is to run (or walk) 13 miles throughout the month of March. It's free to take part and everyone who fundraises for us will receive an exclusive Home Run 2021 medal.
