I’ve got to say I’ve been driving an electric car for the past year now, and honestly… I love it.

But when people see me towing large equipment with it, the reactions are priceless…
“You’ll never pull that chipper with a battery.”“Bet it only gets 3 miles.”“Where’s the extension lead then?”

Meanwhile the electric car’s just sat there silently dragging a full tree surgery setup around Sheffield without breaking a sweat.
Feels like I’m living in the future while everyone else is still arguing with it at the traffic lights

Winching large timber from storm-damaged trees in a school woodland in Sheffield.

Timber was carefully winched from the stream and stacked neatly on site, with all works carried out safely and under full control.

Another solid job completed by the team 👊

We’ve recently carried out crown lifting and deadwood removal around a local graveyard, making the area safer for visitors and surrounding property.

Dead or hanging branches might not always be obvious, but when they fail, the consequences can be serious — from property damage to potential injury. That’s why safety is always our top priority on every project we take on.

If you’ve got trees that haven’t been inspected in a while, it’s always worth getting them checked.

Nathan once said to me, “Reece, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to climb again…”

Two years later and he’s at the TOP of trees like this… dismantling the whole thing like it personally offended him 😂🌳

Every year I buy bigger bars for the saws thinking, “Right, that’s us sorted now.”

Nathan: “Reece… we need a bigger chainsaw.”

I’m not even running a tree company anymore, I’m just financing Nathan’s obsession with bigger saws 🤦‍♂️😂

Fair play though — gone from doubting it to absolutely dismantling monsters like this

Not a boat heading upstream… that’s a failed tree being pulled out of the water 💪🌳

Great to see the capstan winch doing exactly what it does best — hauling serious timber out of a stream with control and efficiency.

Jobs like this are where the right kit makes all the difference 👌

Not everyone will know what’s going on in this video, but this is where experience really comes into play.

This tree has Meripilus at the base – a fungus that causes white rot and weakens the structure of the tree. In this case the tree has already failed at the base and ended up caught in another tree.

What makes this job tricky is the base has completely snapped. The only thing holding it up is the branches resting in the neighbouring tree. Once those branches start getting removed, the whole stem will want to drop.

If that happened uncontrolled we’d be looking at a new stone wall, gate and footpath needing replacing.

This is why careful planning and experience matter on jobs like this.

Sharing this as it might help other climbers who find themselves in a similar situation.
