This weeks job - yet another dose of fixing work that should have been done properly in the first instance!

A customer of the client offered to fit some new wardrobe doors as a paid 'favour' - nah, I can't work that one out either.

So he made and fitted these 'fluffy' MDF doors (the cheapest of the cheap material). Made them out of 15mm MDF so even a light sand broke through the material to the screw tips. We use Moisture Resistant 22mm MDF for all our doors. And as for the boxing around the windows. 5 and 6mm gaps at the top and on scribed joints just shouldn't be left like that! As you can see from the 'before' pictures, he'd used Grab Adhesive to fill joints instead of caulk - what a mess! Remember, favours aren't always that - especially when you're paying for that favour!!!!!

Add to the poor workmanship that this was a tired room that their previous decorator had only bodged, this was four days of graft!

But it turned out looking good and neutral after a few Kg's of filler, two big tubes of caulk, four coats of white on the walls and four coats of satin on the wardrobe doors.

The house is soon to go on the market and the client will be having us for any works on their new home - new customer and great result!

A rather large wall panelling job on a three storey Victorian terrace property.

Between the ground floor and the first floor, there were 8 changes of pitch (don't ask - I don't have a clue why either). The customer obviously wanted to hide as many of these pitch changes as possible so I had to work backwards from the top of the panelling. As you can see, the stairs had no strings so whilst this made the job harder, I could also disguise pitch changes at that level!

It turned out good though!

The client has asked me to go back and paint it and infill the panels with wall paper so there'll be more on this one soon.

Notice, all filling and caulking done - that's how it should be - not left assuming the decorator will do it.

One I did before Christmas for FREE!

Hopefully the gods are shining down on me for this one - the customer suffers from cancer in various aggressive forms and wanted a shower cubicle as her mobility has been impaired rendering a daily bath more difficult.

Her Mum and friends held a Go Fund Me for the materials and I offered my services to get it all fitted.

So it was a complete rip out and re-configure - everything being a different location to their preceeding counterparts, new soil connections and wastes, plumbing, radiator - everything. Added recessed downlighters, door hung on the opposite side. We re-used the bath and radiator but everything else was new - wall panelling too.

With the change of location and a new back to wall, raised height WC, it was necessary to cut a hole for the soil pipe through the side of the pan itself - and whilst all went well, it was a buttock clencher!!!!

Its nice to know that a humble tradesman's skills can actually improve someone's quality of life, however little that may be

A plastered media wall to our customers requirements with recessed lighting and hidden electrical outlets.

We also added 8 LED downlighters in this room (without lifting the floor above) and completely decorated the room (ended up being the whole house in the end).
