Alex and Sophie were pleased to attend the CLA Big Breakfast at the Royal Bath & West Show yesterday morning 🍳

The panel discussion, expertly chaired by Alice Fox-Pitt, brought together Sarah D**e MP, Jeremy Moody (CAAV), Richard Clothier MBE (Wyke Farms) and Joe Evans (CLA) to discuss some of the biggest challenges facing UK farming today — from food security to farm policy with upcoming Capital Grants and SFI, along with the continued impacts of flooding across Somerset.

A thoughtful conversation highlighting the resilience of the farming community and the importance of long-term support needed from government. 🚜

Great to be out on the ground today at Huntingford Farm for a Forestry Commission woodland creation farm walk. 🌳
Really valuable to see practical examples of how woodland creation can be integrated into working farms — from utilising awkward field corners to strengthening habitat corridors and riparian tree planting along watercourses.
Some key takeaways: • Importance of early and effective deer management
• Getting planting densities right from the outset
• Best practice for establishing young trees and ensuring survival rates
• Thoughtful species selection aligned to site conditions
• Realistic timescales and process around EWCO applications
Particularly useful hearing first-hand experience from those delivering schemes on the ground — always far more insightful than theory alone.

Throughout the programme, apprentices gain hands-on experience while studying land and property management, rural business and agricultural economics, environmental stewardship, and the legal and regulatory framework affecting rural enterprises. Thrings Agricultural Seminar 🌾

Assetsphere had a great day attending the Thrings Agricultural Seminar at the Royal Agricultural University, with keynote speaker Baroness Minette Batters providing insight into her recent review of farm profitability commissioned by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

The Thrings team went on to deliver informative sessions covering natural captial, planning law and property litigation.

It was also great to hear from Farmers Weekly editor Andrew Meredith, who shared his thoughts on 2025 farming trends and opportunities as we try to look ahead.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS - Countryside Stewardship Mid Tier Extended 🚨

After months of campaigning, yesterday the NFU successfully secured a one-year extension for Countryside Stewardship Mid Tier (CS MT) agreements. A huge win for over 5,000 farmers 👏

The extension will allow farmers to continue delivering environmental benefits while the new Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) is developed.

🔗 Guidance will be available via https://www.gov.uk/ from 11am today (15th October)
📬 Otherwise the RPA will contact eligible farmers soon with details on accepting their extension

🌾 FETF Claim Guidance for Approved Applicants 🌾

If you have submitted a Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) grant application and it has been approved, it’s essential to make sure your claim is submitted correctly to avoid payment delays.

Submitting an accurate FETF claim helps ensure the RPA can process your payment smoothly.

To complete your claim, make sure you include:
Proof of purchase (invoices and bank statements)
Matching details that align with your original application and correct item codes
Clear photos showing each item on the farm, including make, model, serial number, confirming it’s installed or in use

🕒 Deadline: Claims must be submitted by 31 March 2026
💷 Payment: The RPA aims to make payments within 60 working days of receiving a complete and accurate submission

Double-check your payment details before submitting — incorrect information is a common cause of delays.
