Recently had one of my installs of Click Scolmore Aquip socket selected as the monthly winner.

I commented not long before being selected to a friend that I never win any of these things 😂

Got home today and found this lot waiting for me.

Cup
Pen
LED Hat
T-shirt
Fleece

Along with a selection of materials that I chose. Including Aquip sockets, enclosures, fused spurs, tub of cable clips, regular 2 gang sockets, 1 & 2 gang light switches and some fused and non-fused fan isolators.

So as one good turn deserves another. The next customers I have (on a first come first served basis) who require any of the materials I’ve received as part of the work I’m doing for them will be given to them free of charge until I’ve run out. ⚡️😊

Massive thanks to Scolmore for sending it all to me for free. 👍🏻👏🏻

Some of this weeks work. That light is one of the most expensive lights I’ve fitted in a house, and at some height! No pressure then. 😂

Got to admit it does look good though.

Also fitted a few other lights for the customer and added in a led lit & heated mirror bathroom cabinet. Took the supply from the light circuit and ran a fused spur (derated to 5A) to allow local isolation. Ran some oval conduit up the wall into the loft so the cable can be replaced if anything ever gets damaged.

Feel free to get in touch if you need any electrical work doing. No job is too small and quotes are always free.

Not posted in a while so thought I would do an update on some of the work done in the last few months.

One of the highlight jobs was a complicated lighting project at a large property. Took a 4 days to complete as maintaining the aesthetic look, even with extensive groundwork, was of high importance in a place like that.

Project involved 250m total of SWA dug in by hand, quinetic wireless switching, dielectric gel, lots or armoured cable glands too. But the end result was a worth it.

Also in this post are some other completed works ranging from installation of EV charge points, loft light installations, additional socket installations, fault finding and repairs and finds during inspections and testing.

No job is ever too small.

Feel free to get in touch for a no obligation quote.

Fully insured and qualified in all aspects of domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installation, inspection, testing and 3rd party certification.

**DANGEROUS SITUATION FOUND**

Whilst looking at a different job I moved the two cables to get a better look at their entry to the building. And was alarmed to see them spark.

So a bit of investigation and I found one of the most dangerous things I’ve seen. 244v being sent down the armour of a cable feeding outdoor sockets. And is completely exposed to touch. 😳😳😳

Another example of why you should only use properly qualified electricians.

⚡️ SWA not glanded correctly causing live conductor to be making contact with the gland
⚡️ No RCD protection
⚡️ No earth fly lead at the other end
⚡️ Not terminated or enclosed properly at the supply end

Made safe for now and customer is weighing up wether to get the other ‘electrician’ back or just cut their losses and get me to correct when I do some other work for them.

**PROMOTIONAL VIDEO**

I was lucky enough to recently be selected to test a Bosch Professional Power Tools And Accessories BITURBO Tool.

Having received the Bosch Pro GBH 18v-34CF I put it through a bit of a test today whilst on a job swapping a cooker hood extractor that I had previously installed from being a recirculating to external vented hood.

To make clear, although I was sent the tool for free, I have NOT been paid to review this tool. So the review is my honest opinion of the tool from initially unboxing to using it on site this morning.

Enjoy.

Been very busy lately, hence lack of content. But this is a job completed this week. 2 x Verso consumer units installed. Each with Type 2 surge and full RCBO protection. Bringing the installation in line with the latest regulations.

These boards are the best I’ve used and my current go to board for consumer unit replacement/upgrade.

All tested and certified and notified to local authority building control.

My work experience student has been a massive help this week. Keen, attentive, eager to learn and help. Big credit to himself and Shrewsbury Colleges Group

*** THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW NOT TO DO ELECTRICAL WORK ***

There are a plethora of issues here. And it’s a perfect example of why you should only use a properly qualified electrician to conduct electrical work in and around your property.

The downside to electricity is that just because it’s working, it doesn’t mean it’s working safely.

This is all now disconnected and will be returned to another day to rectify.

If you need any work doing I’m:

⚡️ Fully qualified to current 18th edition Amdt 2 regulations for domestic, commercial and industrial work.
⚡️ Fully insured
⚡️ Registered with NAPIT
⚡️ Registered on TrustMark
⚡️ Provide free, no obligation, quotes
⚡️ All work is certified and, where required, notified to building control.

So feel free to get in touch. No job is too small.

Unfortunately my work experience student has been ill since Tuesday. So I wish her a speedy recovery. It’s meant she’s missed the fun of replacing a consumer unit and installing a Hypervolt EV charge point, using the LINIAN Fire Clip for the supply cable to keep it neat and tidy.

Customer is pleased with the end result and is just awaiting the arrival their EV now.

All tested, certified and notified to building control.

EICR today and then installation of an outdoor socket.

The importance of checking accessories during inspections is demonstrated perfectly here. Downlights not installed correctly and the earths have been cut. There’s 20 of them on the circuit and they’re all the same!

A socket on a ring final circuit (the circuit tested fine) but anything plugged into this socket would not be earthed.

A number of issues present in the consumer unit. Every earth extended including the main earth reduced from 16mm to 10mm, most of the line conductors in the MCBs were easily pulled out as not correctly torqued, the neutral from the main supply was also loose, the neutrals on both ring final circuits were crossed and that doorbell cable is not rated for 230v.

There were also some issues with the IPX rating as the top and bottom of the consumer unit has excessive holes in.

Fortunately the customer had already requested an upgrade to the CU. So this will all be rectified. But it highlights the importance of properly qualified and competent electricians doing inspections.

Another week started with another Hypervolt charge point installation and another student with me on work experience from Shrewsbury Colleges Group

Cables all secured using the LINIAN Fire Clip safety clips. Making for a neat and near invisible cable clipping solution.

All tested, certified and notified to building control.

More to follow this week as we have EICR, outdoor sockets, consumer unit change and another EV charge point being just some of the work scheduled in.

Added some external security for an old couple who have been broken into a few times recently. Worked all their life to be self sufficient when retired. And then some oxygen thieving scum have to go and make them feel insecure in their own home. 🤬

Hopefully now the lights and cameras will deter any more break-ins.

Todays job was installing a Hypervolt and external Garo Electric Ltd IP rated consumer unit.

Also used LINIAN Fire Clip not only for clipping the SWA Hyperconnect supply to the Hypervolt but also to tidy up the ridiculously shoddy installed meter tails.

All tested, certified and notified to building control.
