Asbestos thermal insulation, also known as ‘pipe lagging.’

During refurbishment works, the contractors pulled up the floorboards to find these lagged pipes. These have been sampled and confirmed that the pipe insulation contains asbestos fibers.

If there had been an asbestos refurbishment survey in place, these pipes would have been identified prior to the floorboards being lifted, ensuring no one would be at risk of exposure. This situation highlighting the importance of asbestos refurbishment surveys.

This type of material can only be removed by licensed asbestos contractors like ourselves, and a two-week notification period to the HSE is required.
