Another thing I learnt on my trip to Ireland 🇮🇪

For years iv never found a good solid PIR flood light 💡
The amount iv been back to is probably disgusting. Water ingress, blown chips, flashing etc….

One job I think iv used 3 brands and had failures across the board.

So with 4 to fit on a job in Telford a warranty call back would be nothing short of a huge pain.

Whilst giving the R&D dept some grief at they came back with what seems to be the best solution to date.

A 5 year warranty but with a 2 year onsite 🤌 if I got paid to go back and swap all the floods iv had fail inside 2 years I’d be a happy man.

Putting there money where there mouth is, quite literally.

And I get to add a few more loyalty points on my tally 🤣

Might be some useful information if your after some peace of mind or another factor to add into your quotes 👍

1 thing iv learnt whilst working for myself is when your on a price, efficiency is profit.

If your on a hourly rate your not gonna moan about walking back and forward to the van every 5minutes because the longer your there your getting paid.

But when you’re on a price you just wanna get on to the next one.

This trolley wasn’t cheap but it’s certainly earnt its money back.

All the tools I need, fixings, cable, sleeving, fittings etc….

Easy to manoeuvre and evens folds up in the van.

And in social care environments you can’t leave things lying around so if I need to nip off I can push it in to a store room and know everything’s clean and safe 🤌

No more carrying drill box’s, fixing trays, materials, steps etc… 😴

Spent the day over in Ireland to visit the factory after an invitation from . Very insightful on there warranty services, level of stock and installer input for old and new products.

Nice to have some input on what works and doesn’t work.
If you get a chance I’d recommend it.

Now off to sample a proper Guinness or 10.

For anyone not in the know Potters is my old man’s company ✌️

Another small job off the list this week In between the bigger projects.

New service door fitted going from a 3/4 door and panel to a standard French door style, so the mag lock needed altering.

Nice and straight forward 👍

Onto the next one …

Small after hours job last night to repair this damaged 35mm 4 core

Damaged by the same digger that installed it 🤣

The water pipe made it slightly awkward but a bit of slack was available thankfully.

The emergency resin kit wasn’t the best quality - no way you’d fit a 50mm in there 🫠 plenty of tape required to make sure it sealed.

Working all hours this week/weekend before 2 days off next week on a “Business Trip” 🤫

There aren’t many 14 year olds out there who can knock out a 4 bed lighting install on a Bank Holiday Sunday. 🔨

(Inc Utility, WC, En-suite, Lounge, Dining Room and Dressing Room 😏)

7am start aswell 😅

But being a (Future) 3rd generation sparky it probably comes naturally 🤷‍♂️

Literally out performing some of the people iv seen on the tools. CTE is in safe hands moving forward.

Schools not for everyone 👊 and the extra hand is always welcome with a full work load 🤣

More than just an electrician 💡

For the right customers it’s simple - we do what we can.

Bit of a maintenance run today - swapping relays, fixing lights and some general repairs to seals and trolley arms 🤌

I’d probably have a lot more spare time if I didn’t do these things but where’s the fun in that 🤷‍♂️🤣

A morning spent checking on some sites before a drive to Bishops Castle 🏰

Little job from last year to squeeze in before the end of the tax year.

Should there be an emergency and the kitchen staff need to exit quickly would turning the cooking equipment off be top of there mind or even practical 🤔

This gave birth to the idea of a master switch the staff could hit to drop the power to all ovens and fryers etc… so nothing would continue to heat up etc… causing a fire risk

Supplies altered and run through some contactors controlled via an emergency stop by the fire exit, simple, effective and another job off the list.

So whilst I was there I quoted another 🤣 because the list never gets shorter.

Works carried out after peak hours to limit any issues for the site.

This has been the busiest start to a year iv ever known. 🫨

Seems to be a huge amount of small ish jobs, with some larger ones due to start very soon.

One of today’s tasks was a supply point for a new water softener. 💧

Nothing huge at all but another one off the list ✅
