These fascinating photos, clearly show the work that has gone into the design of this lovely building. We wanted to share progress which is nearing completing- at RAF Witchford. We get a mention in this detailed article by Gary Johns Architects having been involved as part of the team designing, manufacturing and erecting the superstructure. It's an interesting read and we are honoured to have been involved with the project. It's a really fitting tribute to remember the men and women who served there during the second world war. Cant wait to see people enjoying its facilities when it opens.

We are very excited and proud to see the RAF Witchford Museum building taking shape at Lancaster Way Business Park for our client Grovemere Property Ltd. The project is designed to give a much more prominent and engaging home to a remarkable collection of RAF Witchford and RAF Mepal artefacts, helpi...

Catching up with the new building at RAF Witchford. Every landmark building starts with a structure.

While much of the attention is understandably drawn to the distinctive aircraft-inspired exterior, these images show the building which we completed as its superstructure package.

The generous open spaces and curved internal wall hint at the unique design that was beginning to take shape, providing the framework for a building that will become a lasting tribute to those connected with the station's wartime history.

Projects like this are a reminder that great architecture begins long before the finishing touches are added. We cant wait to see the finished project.

Did you know that we dont just build new residential dwellings? We also work with architects and clients to develop commercial projects.

We were delighted to be appointed back in January 2024, and we have recently completed the construction of this fantastic exhibition building at RAF Witchford in Ely. These were the visuals shared by Gary Johns Architects with its unique design, we were honoured to be able to engineer, manufacture and install the superstructure of this stunning project.

There is a link to further information about the new Witchford RAF exhibition within Gary Johns Architects post and we will share more pictures of the installation shortly.

Another Point1 Project completed in April this year in the gorgeous setting of the Cotswolds.

This one was a really interesting detail-led project where we pushed the boundaries of TEK construction to accommodate an unusual feature: an endless pool integrated into the design.

Because of the environment created by the pool area, there was a huge amount of collaboration throughout the project.

We worked closely with the team at Kingspan Group, the specialists on the ventilation strategy, regarding the specification of their foil-faced membrane. Rixon , who we’ve worked with for many years and collaborated closely with throughout the detailing process.

After reviewing condensation risk and performance, the membrane solution eventually became a carefully considered double-layer detail to ensure the best long-term outcome for the building.

The external finish is , so we also used , a great product that helps solve a lot of the traditional mortar and cavity issues associated with natural stone cladding.

What made this project work so well was the constant communication between everyone involved. All parties worked closely together while we kept the client fully informed as the design developed and details evolved.

Great all round has resulted in a solution with very low condensation risk for what is quite a unique application — and we can’t wait to see the finished project come together.

Another fantastic project completed by Point1 Building Systems — this time near Harlow, Essex.

This project started when drawings were submitted by an architect practice we’ve built a strong relationship with over many years.

From the initial enquiry through to completion, collaboration between the architect, client and Point1 ensured a smooth and efficient process throughout.

As the clients were unfamiliar with SIPs construction and offsite manufacturing, they visited our factory in to see how their new home would be designed, engineered and manufactured before arriving on site — giving them confidence in the process from the outset.

Following detailed design, engineering and manufacture, the Point1 package was completed in early February. A standout feature of the home is the exposed Douglas Fir truss within the vaulted living area, creating a striking architectural focal point.
Projects like this highlight the value of early collaboration, communication and precision offsite manufacturing in delivering efficient, high-quality builds.

Some people quietly carry more than most of us will ever see — and still show up every single day. 💛

Over the past year, our incredible colleague and friend Nicola Jebb has faced one of life’s toughest challenges with a strength and resilience that has genuinely inspired all of us at Point1 Building Systems. Following her breast cancer diagnosis, Nicola went through treatment and, despite ongoing complications earlier this year, she never truly stepped away. Behind the scenes, she continued to keep everything moving — managing procurement, overseeing accounts, and making sure we all stayed on track.

Quite simply, we don’t know what we would have done without her. Her determination, courage, and unwavering commitment to the team have been nothing short of extraordinary.

This weekend , her son Aidan Lindsay (23) — who many of you will know from the workshop, building our timber frame panels — has taken on an incredible challenge of his own. He’s part of a five-person team running from London to Paris to raise money for the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre in Shrewsbury — the very place that supported Nicola through her treatment.
We couldn’t be prouder of both of them. 💪
If you’ve already donated, thank you so much — your support means the world. And if you haven’t yet but would like to, we’ve shared the link in the comments.
Let’s show our support for an amazing family, and help give something back to the charity that helped Nicola through it all. ❤️

When using traditional stone cladding with SIPS, cavity performance is not something that can be left to chance.

At Point1 Building Systems, we recommend incorporating SureCav so the cavity remains clear and fully functional throughout construction and beyond.

• Prevents mortar bridging
• Maintains drainage paths
• Supports effective cavity ventilation

This is particularly important with natural stone, where irregular profiles and larger joints increase the risk of cavity obstruction.

On a recent Point1 project, this approach was successfully implemented to protect the integrity and performance of the SIPS structure. The right product for the job!

Correct detailing isn’t an upgrade—it’s essential.

From this Thursday 19th March the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show opens its doors and the Point1 Building Systems team will be there on Stand B142.

The show continues through Friday 20th, Saturday 21st opening from 10am - 5pm and concludes on Sunday 22nd March from 10am - 4.30pm

Whether you’re at the early research stage, already working with drawings, or ready to start building your dream home, we’d love to meet you.

Pop by our stand for a friendly chat about how a Point1 house system could benefit your build. We’re happy to:

✔ Look over your drawings
✔ Talk through the self-build process
✔ Explain how our building systems work
✔ Share what happens from the first conversation right through to the day we arrive on site to build your home.

Sometimes the most helpful step in a project is simply having a conversation with people who’ve helped others do it before.
