🎓👏More than 100 apprentices and graduates recently came together in Leeds and Birmingham to celebrate completing our graduate and apprentice programme.

Delivered in partnership with Futureproof Training, the year-long programme supports new starters in developing the personal and professional skills needed to build successful careers across the business. From communication and collaboration to professional development and chartership support, helping colleagues prepare for the next stage of their careers.

💧💡 Turning data into faster, smarter decisions

Following the need for visibility of thousands of storm overflow assets across the Yorkshire region, our design-and-build company, MMB, collaborated with Yorkshire Water and Autodesk to create a connected digital solution, bringing survey data, asset information and project insights together into a single source of truth.

Delivered in just nine days, the solution combined leading digital tools, including Moata and Microsoft Power BI, with MMB’s own digital capabilities to carry out more than 3,000 surveys across 2,400 locations, creating a repeatable model for data-led decision-making across the water sector.

The outcome is a scalable digital approach that provides better insight, supports faster decision-making and continues to add value across the wider water sector.

🤝 We are delighted to have secured a two-year extension to our contract with Canal & River Trust continuing our work across the north of the Trust’s waterways network until at least 2028.

The extension will see our teams continue to deliver complex repair, restoration and resilience projects across reservoirs, embankments, culverts, tunnels and aqueducts. This includes ongoing works at Slaithwaite Reservoir in West Yorkshire, where’re upgrading the overflow spillway to enhance long-term safety and resilience.

🗨️Commenting on the news, Angus Ridge, director at JN Bentley said: “The extension of our contract with the Canal & River Trust is just reward for the hard work and skill of our project teams.

“We’re proud to support the Trust in maintaining and enhancing these important assets and look forward to continuing our strong partnership in the years ahead.”

On this day in 1999, our design-and-build company Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) was founded, combining Mott MacDonald's design engineering expertise with JN Bentley's contracting experience.

🛠️Over the past 27 years, MMB has grown into a unique and truly integrated design-and-build organisation. MMB now works closely with ten of the UK's leading regulated water companies, helping to solve complex engineering challenges through innovation, collaboration and hard work.

Meet Gemma Mitchell, a mechanical engineer based in the Midlands, who is delivering engineering excellence on schemes across the Severn Trent region.

Since joining our design-and-build company Mott MacDonald Bentley as a graduate engineer, Gemma has worked on a number of key projects across the Midlands. Alongside her day-to-day role, she has also become a passionate advocate for STEM within the business, delivering educational outreach activities across the region.
